thyroid results

Hi all I posted on here a while ago as I was having issues with carbimazole. I ended up in A&E with palpitations and the hospital doctor didn’t think I needed to be medicated. Anyway to cut a long story short I went to see a private consultant who took me off the carbimazole to see what happens. My levels of TSH were 7.2 in Feb and I had a blood test this week it’s now 2.8 with T4 being 16.8. I felt brilliant for a few days but now have palpitations again and have lost some weight. My next bloods are on the 14th April and I see the consultant on the 22/4. I don’t know if I can manage until then and don’t know what to do. I would appreciate any guidance. Thank you

Hidden thankyou. I was concerned because I thought 2.8 was pushing me back to overactive. I can’t stand the palpitations and anxiety it drives me mad and I don’t know what to do. Where should I be looking for my T4 to be in that range please?

An overactive thyroid sees the TSH low/suppressed and under is range -

an underactive thyroid sees the TSH rise outside of its range -

How long is it since you stopped the Carbimazole ?

Carbimazole is an Anti Thyroid drug and blocks your own new daily thyroid hormone production.

Hey there again :

So as previously replied - your TSH is not Hi-jacked and not under the range and these results does not suggest Graves Disease and you do not need medicating with an Anti Thyroid such as Carbimazole.

Your posts suggests Hashimoto's Auto Immune and this is when you experience transient hyper type symptoms as this AI sets out to dismantle and disable your thyroid -

What other bio markers do we have now ?

Such as antibody results and ranges for TPO - TgAB - TRab - TSI - TSH Thyroid Receptors :

I believe you are dealing with Hashimoto's AI disease - many forum members find the research and suggestions of Dr Izabella Wenz of value - thyroidpharmacist.com

pennyannie thank you. They haven’t retested any antibodies since last year. They only do TSH and T4 and that’s all I will be having on 14/4. I have posted below my results from Feb as a comparison to where I am now. Should I do private tests for this and what do I need. I can’t carry on as I am

@pennyannie this is an antibody test from last November it’s the only one I have had

I read that the NHS only test TPO antibodies and these look to be a negative -

Maybe for peace of mind arrange your own a full advanced thyroid blood test - as this covers all the necessary information we need to help you better understand what is going on and tests both sets of antibodies needed for a diagnosis of Hashimoto's AI disease -

I had my blood drawn on Tuesday just gone and my results were back the following day :

and Medichecks also run a separate blood test for Graves if you feel you need some reassurance medichecks.com/products/tsh... :

If with anxiety maybe your doctor can prescribe a beta blocker ?

pennyannie thank you I have ordered the advanced thyroid test kit and will post the results when I get them.

pennyannie thank you I will try that. The doctor has agreed to ring me tomorrow could you let me know the specific tests needed for antibodies so I can see if he will test them? I can’t have a beta blocker as my resting heart rate sits between 47 and 52

You have them above if you open the Medicheck links -

OK so for Hashimoto's you need TPO and TgAb - antibodies run _ TSH + Free T and Free T4 :

For Graves you need a TRab- or a TSI- or a TSH Thyroid Receptor antibody run + TSH + Free T3 + Free T4 :

Can I please suggest you start a new post with your results and ranges as any information especially new blood test results deserve being seen, read and interpreted by all forum members - rather than stuck down here on a post that is now considered ' answered ' :
