LDN... loe dose naltrexone .... been prescribed.

Hi,

My Private Dr has given me LDN for my low cortisol/poor adrenal function. This proven by the way of 4 point cortisol saliva test & 9am blood cortisol test.

I have been taking 0.5mls for a week and half now. I was thinking of moving up to 1.0mls after 4 weeks. Been taking it around 8am.

I've had some quite vivid dreams so far LOL!

Any advice or thoughts on LDN would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Hey Joey,

Sorry you haven’t had a reply, hopefully this message pushes it up the list a bit and someone taking LDN can help.

Are you also monitoring thyroid hormone levels? Is LDN impacting those?

I'm not tbh, it never crossed my mind to do so. I've been on the same T3/T4 dose since last summer and I don't really want to change.

I've got a blue horizon test kit in the cupboard (TSH-FT4-FT3 mag & cortisol) so I might to a test at some point. I have to use it before May anyway.

Thank you 😊

My dreams were incredibly vivid, too! Kind of fun.

I increased my LDN slowly, but if you started at .5 without a problem, you may not be as sensitive. Your timeframe of four weeks before increasing dose seems reasonable. I've heard a wide range of recommendations for when to increase dosage, so I'm not sure I can give you any suggestions besides listen to your body. I've been on it a couple of years and I'm at 6.5 mg, which I take at night before bed.

I don't remember how much the LDN affected my T4 dosage, but I did increased my LDN dose really gradually. I started the LDN mostly to help with pain and to lower my inflammation levels, and it definitely made a difference in the pain for me once I got it to a high enough dose. It also ended up helping me with fatigue. I hope you find it helps you, too!

I’ve been taking LDN sublingual drops for a few years. It is helpful in many ways. Sometimes I have a break from it but always symptoms I’d forgotten come back so I start the LDN again. I used to take it in the afternoon but now take it at bedtime to improve my sleep, it works.

It can boost the uptake of replacement thyroid hormones so you’re usually advised to check your levels after 3 months. You might need less.

LDN has so many uses but I take mine for ME/FMS. I increased gradually to 3.0 and sometimes up to 3.5 for a period of time. It's been ~25 years that I've been on it. Never noticed it's effecting my Armour doses. Or Cynoplus (T3/T4 synthetic) when I've used that. It's been a big help w recovery from injuries and overall.

It might be time to consider adjusting my dose again as I age and requirements change. Have always taken my dose in the morning since way back experienced sleep disruptions when taking it at bedtime. .
