My Tg antibodies are over 1000, which is extremely high. Plus, elevated TPO, but normal TSH, F3 and F4. I was told that I don't yet qualify for any medication and I have no idea how to help myself get better. Severe symptoms of exhaustion, leaky gut, joint pains, low mood....Does anyone have any suggestions for tg antibodies this high?

TG antibodies

welcome to the forum
Can you add any results and ranges you do have
With high thyroid antibodies it’s essential to also test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Have these been tested
Please add any results plus ranges
Exactly what vitamin supplements are you taking
You also need coeliac blood test as per NICE Guidelines
nice.org.uk/guidance/ng20/c...
If not been done request it’s done now
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning.

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test
If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

thanks for the links.
TSH, T4, T3 within normal range, TPO (optimal below 34) 36.5, Anti-Tg (optimal below 115) 1027, ferritin normal but on the lower side, iron B12 D all normal; i take zinc, selenium, omegas, iron, curcumin, vitamin c, vitamin d.....i'm gluten free vegan....and cannot reduce my diet any further. AIP seems extremely restrictive.
Can you add actual results
Ft4 at 13 (12-22) would be significantly different to Ft4 at 18 (12-22)
Similarly B12 205 (180-760) would be very different to B12 at 680 (180-760)
Please also add actual results and ranges for
Iron, ferritin, vitamin D, folate and B12
Good vitamin levels are
Ferritin at least over 70 minimum
Serum B12 over 500
Active B12 over 70
Folate at top of range
Vitamin D at least over 80nmol
As a vegan you will need daily B12 and separate vitamin B complex
And it’s always difficult to maintain iron and ferritin on plant based diet
How long have you been vegan
You likely need to test iodine levels on vegan diet

Hi JoHashi, welcome to the forum.
Your antibody results sound just like mine were on diagnosis. But it's not the antibodies making you feel bad. Although your TSH/FT4/FT3 are in-range, that does not automatically make them 'normal' - if there is such a thing. It's where within the range the results fall that counts. Ranges are only a very rough guide to thyroid status and this is what doctors struggle to understand: just being in-range does not mean you're alright! And the number you need to concentrate on is the FT3 because that is the active hormone that causes symptoms if it's too high or too low.
The stumbling block for a lot of us is that doctors only tend to look at the TSH - they have little understanding of thyroid - and if it's below 10 (they ignore the ranges where TSH is concerned) they think you can't possibly have symptoms.
But, with such high antibodies, they ought to make an exception. What exactly are your FT3/4 results and ranges?
thank you. ft4 20.10 and ft3 5.42
tsh 4.590.....but antibodies this high must cause some symptomology in my understanding....

In my understanding, they don't.
Your TSH is much too high - should be around 1 - and doesn't correspond to your Free levels. Which probably indicates that they haven't been at that level for very long - the TSH takes a while to catch up. So, your high FT4 is more than likely due to a Hashi's 'hyper' swing at some point recently. Levels are likely to jump around quite a bit in the early days of Hashi's. But your doctor is right, starting thyroid hormone replacement at this point wouldn't make you feel any better and could make you feel a lot worse.
thank you, greygoose
