I went to the doctor last month. He put me on carbimazole 5mg and propranolol 40mg, after 1 week of taking the propranolol I stopped because my health palpitations were no more but I continued the carbimazole. 4 days before I finish the pills I went to do this blood test
Just got back my Thyroid blood test. Instead of... - Thyroid UK
Just got back my Thyroid blood test. Instead of pills is there anything I can do naturally?

I'm afraid it's impossible to answer that question because we don't have enough information - neither does your doctor, come to that! He should not have put you on carbi without doing full testing. That is just so wrong.
Yes, your Frees are high, but not that high. Unfortunately he didn't test them before putting you on carbi so we have no idea how high they were. I'm afraid he messed up big-time.
But y the test above is not complete. Antibodies and nutrients should also have been tested. But, all is not lost. He can still do the missing tests, if he's a mind to. And once we see why your levels are high, then we'll know better what to advise. But, you must be aware that there are no cures for thyroid problems, and the only treatment is - I'm afraid - pills. Either to bring levels down or to raise them so that you feel better. Many, many people live perfectly normal lives just taking those pills. They have babies and go to work and raise their children normally. It's just a matter of getting onto the right amount of the right pills. And to do that, you need the right tests done:
TSH
FT4
FT3
TPO antibodies
Tg antibodies
TRAB
TSI
vit D
vit B12
folate
ferritin.

As greygoose has advised, 100% push for correct antibody tests. I say this because I was initially diagnosed as hyperthyroid with Graves, but after following forum advice tested privately and found I’m actually hyperthyroid with Hashimotos.
It’s important to test key thyroid vitamins- ferritin, folate, B12 and vit D as having these optimal supports thyroid health. Please don’t supplement these without testing and do share results with us for further advice.
Information on Antibody tests:
Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism) needs to be confirmed via positive TRab or TSI:
TRab
TSH receptor antibodies
TSI
Thyroid-Stimulating Immunoglobulin
TPO & TG antibodies may be Graves or Hashimotos.
TPOab
Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies
TGab
Thyroglobulin antibodies
Hi Dollypurple, some Naturopaths they recommend for TSH values low, to help with hyperthyroidism , is really good some fruits, some they even say that an orange a day will do wonders, also peaches, cabbage and others. About teas, all the lemon balms family are really good.Lúcia-Lima (Lemon Verbena). For example I love all this but I restrict myself to consume them or drink because I have the opposite- Hypothyroidism. My brother with hyperthyroidism he ate oranges and drink teas and feels relatively well with them. But each case is each case. And I agree with what greygoose says. But even so , I am also looking to find a natural way. For hypothyroidism they say people's should consume more cucumber melon juices (with skin) and so on, I personally drink rosemary, tea Euphorbia hirta tea. Netle tea. I feel they help me out. Still take levothyroxine. Good luck for you, hope you find better the cause of your symptoms.
Please note that lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) and lemon verbena (Aloysia citrodora) are completely different plants - lemon balm is the traditional herb for anxiety and overactive thyroid.
Hi I am new here. I have been diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism due to Graves two weeks ago . I had Hashimoto in 2021, but stopped taking levothyroxine after test result normal in 2023. Until recently found the Graves with TRAB test positive. I am on Carbimazole 25mg OD for two weeks but have not been felt myself , main symptoms are dry eyes with headache's and weakened bones and joint. I have been reading some books on to how to heal naturally, three books all suggested gluten free , no dairy and soy. and two books also suggest eliminate starch or less starch diet so I decided to give it go. I am also doing some research on natural healing. Will see a naturopathic health practitioner. Hopefully I can reduce the time of taking Carbimazole. It worth checking out. I just wondered if anyone has tried paleo diet?
Hello Jean and welcome to the forum :
If you are wanting considered opinion as to your own phase of ill health and proof of diagnosis and your treatment options going forward please start your own question -
ideally to include your TSH + Free T3 and Free T4 results and ranges at diagnosis and which antibodies were found positive and over range in the initial blood test which may include TPO - TgAB with ranges - or a TSI - TRab - or words reading TSH Thyroid Receptors with a cut off number.
