I've been trying t3 only from Paul R. along with Crt3m. It seemed okay at first and then it stopped. So I decided to skip the 4am dose and tried taking 75mcg at 7am. 1st day felt like the lights were coming back on. 2nd day I was very nervous. Today I am severely constipated with a low grade fever of 100 Fahrenheit and experienced the 3pm crash hard. I am truly at a loss and I can't stop crying

75mcg. T3 single dose upon waking. Severe constipation day 3

Your body is adjusting to the single, high dose of T3... which it appears to need
You were previously splitting your dose....maybe you need slightly less in a single dose.
A single dose of say 70mcg is likely to provide a better push against any cellular resistance than several smaller split doses.
This allows more hormone to be available to enter the nuclei of the cells at one time..
There it attaches to the available T3 receptors, becomes active and remains in the cells for about 3 days before being used as required to a fulfil it's functions in the body
As the body uses some T3 it is constantly being topped up.
But, as you use some every day, it is continually being topped up in the cells from the dose you take
For good health every cell in the body must be flooded with T3 by way of an adequate and constant supply.
I need 100mcg T3-only daily which I take in a single dose at bedtime. I'm not a fan of splitting the dose
i would be inclined to work towards a single dose, it is perfectly safe so long as the dose is not excessive to your needs...like any other medication. It will take time to settle, so be patient
Thanks for putting me somewhat at ease. When starting your t3 only, did you experience the same symptoms. Did you start dosing in the am and then later before bedtime? Will this work with tertiary hypothyroidism? I will take your advice and lower the dose.
It seems to me we might forget what settling on a new dose involves. It challenges me every time. Maybe it’s a bit like having a baby. Afterwards you forget the ‘trauma’ and only remember when actually having another.
Anyway I know I feel truly dreadful and I even forget that the reason for changing my medication was because I did not feel well on the previous dose!
OR you could be experiencing an unrelated virus! Too much of a coincidence methinks.
This is not always an easy journey. Thankfully having access to the Forum helps keep the trauma to a minimum.
If I need to treat constipation urgently (because it causes me pain) I take this stuff which can be bought from pharmacies in the UK without prescription. I don't know anything about availability in the USA :
boots.com/dulcolax-adult-pi...
Based on the price, that particular link is to a small bottle which wouldn't last long. But bigger bottles are available.
There are other brands besides Dulcolax - ask for Pico Liquid or Sodium Picosulfate - two names for the same thing. Other brands might be a little bit cheaper.

If you want to try something less drastic that you could try for a few days for a slower, gentler result you could buy inulin powder. The one that I buy says that the maximum that should be taken is two teaspoons per day. I take one heaped teaspoon per day for 2 or 3 days (when I need it, not all the time) and it gets things moving.
If you're desperate, a whole cafetiere of coffee, a cigarette, a sturdy box and a good book does the trick. I don't recommend it to others though...
I haven't smoked for 16 years. But I'm curious what purpose the sturdy box serves?
Feet resting on the box, knees up. Think of it as like being the vertical equivalent to the birthing position (sorry, struggled with a way to put it delicately). It's very useful if you know you're in for a difficult ride.
Sturdy box aka a squatty potty!
Oh yes - I'd forgotten the unicorn ads!
Your reply made me laugh! But seriously, how much is a whole cafetiere of coffee? Cafetieres come in several sizes! And how strong should the coffee be?
At least a litre, enough for 2-3 coffees. Always a heaped tablespoon per cup. Just enough to loosen your bowels, but unfortunately slowly destroy your stomach :/
You could always perform a coffee enema to get the same results and save your stomach! 😳
2-3 coffees a day won't destroy your stomach from what I've been reading recently. Studies seem to suggest possibly quite the opposite. zoe.com/learn/health-benefi...
No, I agree, the vast majority of studies conclude it's good for lipid/insulin regulation, potentially limits/helps repair certain liver issues, so all good there. But I haven't been able to lose my addiction to coffee, and drink about 6 cups a day, and that makes my stomach angry.
It may not be directly the coffee though, it may be bile acid issues etc thrown into the mix.
thank you ...the Dulcolax worked and kept on working All Day. Perfect solution
I found ducolax gives nasty gripey pains so changed to rhubarb complex, twentyfirstcentury herbs Hexham UK . Amazing especially for chronic constipation .
I get gripey pains if I use the maximum dose (10 ml) of Dulcolax so I usually use the smaller dose (5 ml).
I also, as necessary, eat tinned prunes, or inulin powder in water. They help with making the smaller dose of Dulcolax do its job, so I rarely need the bigger dose.
I'll look for the rhubarb complex. I'm willing to try most things for constipation.
Woke up feeling good and giggling at your responses. Thank you for the support Happy day to everyone
I found this chart that shows what happens to T3 in a 24 hour period, I am also trying to figure out how to take T3. This is why IMO it is most often taken several times per day.
Check out DippyDame's reply above. I do feel better with the single dose rather than multiple. Might consider taking it at night instead
