How do I physically split a 1/2 grain Armour Thyroid tablet without it turning to dust?

Hi lovely people,

I have been prescribed Armour Thyroid by private prescription and have been directed to split the dose during the day. My question is, how do I physically split the 1/2 grain tablet without it turning to dust? I’ve tried a pill splitter from Amazon and a kitchen knife but it just goes to dust and I don’t want to waste them. Any ideas much appreciated, thank you.

this is what I use… though it’s much more expensive than when I bought it….

I use this to cut my tablets in half, then I use a craft knife …as I need to have a quarter of a pill. I hold my hand over as I do it as it can shoot off the board.

Bite it in half, it is accurate enough

My technique too on thyroid S even 1/4’s with teeth I find pretty accurate. Never used armour so can’t know for sure if it would work on them

Hi, try to press on the left side of the letter A of the pill. Sometimes it is hard but it usually works.

I am able to break 1 grain Armour in half with my fingers pretty easily. (And then into quarters if needed) Hopefully you could do 1/2 grains with fingers too. If a little uneven I usually don't worry as with the next dose you are taking the rest of the tablet.

I split mine using both of my thumbs and pointing finger together with the pill in the middle. The pill cutters turn them to dust. They really should fix this problem.

They (being the manufacturers) don’t ‘fix this problem’ because they are wanting us to buy the three-quarter or quarter grains, or whatever dose it is we trying to recieve. Never mind this can double the cost of an already expensive medication. .
