Synthroid & Trazodone

I've been taking I Synthroid since 2006 at night, being that my last meal is at 6:00 pm and it ensures that my stomach is empty for better absorption. I recently have been having issues with fragmented sleep, difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. I was wearing my Samsung Galaxy watch when sleeping and it showed many nights where my oxygen dipped well below normal. I realize this is not a medical grade device, but it's still scares me. I thought maybe my sleep issues might be due to sleep apnea. I was seen at a Sleep Clinic earlier this week. The doctor there ordered a sleep study for me inpatient to be done the end of the month. He also prescribed prescribed Trazodone 50 mg at bedtime for sleep which should be taken with a light snack to avoid side effects. I was worried about interactions with my Synthroid medication. The doctor seem to think it would not be a problem. So I started taking the trazodone at 9:00 p.m. with just a piece of fruit like a kiwi, then waiting about an hour and a half, taking my Synthroid before bedtime at 10:30. I'm still worried about interactions with my medication. I've researched it and I can't find any issue with taking the medications this way. I know to avoid dairy for a snack. Has anybody had any experience with taking these two medications like this at night? I don't want to have interactions but I really need to start sleeping. I am due to get my yearly thyroid labs in May. If I wind up having sleep apnea and have to start using a CPAP machine then maybe I won't need the Trazodone.

I see it mentioned here for most meds with Levo it’s best to have a 2-4 hour gap. Is there a chance you could take Levo in the morning instead? I set an alarm, take mine and go back to sleep for half an hour. Get up shower etc and then breakfast is just over an hour from the tablet time.

I read that trazodone is not known to significantly affect Synthroid absorption. I really prefer to take my Synthroid at night. I usually work out an hour after I eat my breakfast in the morning. I think setting an alarm in the morning to take a pill is going to disrupt my sleep more. I'm going to see when I get labs done how it affects my thyroid. Until then I'll go by how I feel. I was just wondering if anybody took the meds this way and how it affected them. Switching from nighttime to morning dosing of Synthroid could cause some temporary fluctuations in my thyroid levels and symptoms, as my body adjusts to a new routine. My thyroid and labs have been stable for such a long time. I really don't want to mess with that. I think what I might try to do is take the trazodone without food to see how everything is on an empty stomach. Thanks for your input.
