Sorry not used for a while ,I did stop taking levo 24hr before test on Monday ,bit worried bout t3 since starting levo in April 24 , in June it was 3.1, you advised me to join parathyroid action 4 change which helped enormously so thankyou Helvella, they got me help, and diagnosed with PHPT ,amongst other organ probs due to to both diseases. My folate is low and suffering terrible and never know which is causing problems . Xx

Tfts and antibodies

Free T4 (fT4) 15 pmol/L (12 - 22)

Ft4 only 30.0% through range

Free T3 (fT3) 3.6 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8)

Ft3 only 13.5% through range most

See GP and request 25mcg dose increase in Levo to 100mcg daily

Most people when adequately treated will have Ft4 at least 60% through range and Ft3 not far behind that

Which brand of levothyroxine are you taking

Do you always get same brand

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Folate is deficient

Vitamin D needs improving to at least over 80nmol

Have you had coeliac blood test

I was on 100mg but tsh went to low

TSH is largely irrelevant once on replacement thyroid hormones. Dose should only be adjusted by symptoms and Ft4 and Ft3 results

Suggest you increase your vitamin D dose

And add a daily vitamin B complex one with folate in (not folic acid)

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance

Difference between folate and folic acid

healthline.com/nutrition/fo...

Many Hashimoto’s patients have MTHFR gene variation and can have trouble processing folic acid supplements

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus B complex popular option. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose and may need 2 per day and/or may need separate methyl folate couple times a week

Post discussing different B complex

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)
