Levothyroxine and contraceptive pill

HiCan someone advise if it is OK to take a progesterone only pill at the same time as my levothyroxine?

I read that you shouldn't take any other medication at the same time but wasn't sure if contraceptives were included in this.

Everything except water is included in the advice to take Levo alone.

Many people do well taking Levo at bedtime and it seems to absorb better when taken then if that helps.

Are you still only on 75mcg levothyroxine

Unless extremely petite, that’s a low dose

Do you always get same brand at each prescription

Always test thyroid early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

The so called progesterone only pill is not body identical progesterone but a synthetic progestin or what they called progestogen which does not act in the same wayin the body as your real progesterone and can affect how your hormones work. It's one of the possible triggers of Hashimoto's too. For hormonally challenged individuals it may not be the best option of contraception.
