hi here is a post I made after a thyroid US 2 years ago to compare. They don’t measure mine here just say it’s ‘small’. I have an MRI report too somewhere I’ll link that

Despite all the technical language they said ‘it’s normal’ 🤞

Here is the discussion about the MRI

Hi thankyou for your response . I shall await response from gp as I'm having hypo symptoms which I've been telling them but they don't seem too bothered .very high antibodies that they said they will retest in 6 months . Not happy with their response at all.

Good for you, push back, 8-12 weeks minimum for watch and wait, list symptoms and impacts on life/livelihood.

Not sure if it will help or not, but as of April 2024 my right lobe has a U2 (benign) swelling of 61mmx41mmx30mm, which just about fills it (so the ultrascan operative told me - "...but your thyroid will work just fine!" [rolls eyes]). Left lobe has a lot of 'buds' sitting there quietly waiting.

The ENT - who I had to go through to get the ultrasound scan - told me it was *normal* as "...lots of ladies over the age of 40 have swellings on their thyroid..." [rolls eyes again]. Yes, I have peroxidase antibodies, but my TSH is within range and I'm not on Levo.

If my vitamins & minerals are optimal (I rattle), and I'm not stressed, the swelling can be almost undetectable. If they're not, and I'm stressed, I look like Frankenstein's monster in search of a neck bolt, and other symptoms go through the roof.

All I can say is, thank God for the knowledgable people on this forum, and for Medichecks blood testing which I use twice a year. I suspect I'm not pulling enough vitamins & minerals from my food - which a succession of GPs poo-poo.

Thankyou. I am awaiting reply from gp. Why do I have one side larger I ask . Gp is just testing bloods but no concern for high antibodies. No t3 test and never will he told me at my last visit. Private testing I've done but was told they don't accept these . Not really concerned about my clinical symptoms . Rubbish gp .

Rubbish NHS.

I actually asked the last GP "if we only have a TSH result, but don't have my FT4 or FT3 results, how do we know if I'm converting well enough?" First he gave me the rabbit-in-headlights look, then he laughed at me and tossed my Medichecks printout back across the desk.

I just by-pass them with my Medichecks results. I attach the downloaded results to an email requesting it adding to my Notes, and send it to the surgery with the "...Please acknowledge this has been done. // Thank you in anticipation." And the office staff do it.

Good luck.

Thankyou I think that's a good idea to try. I've checked my records and no mention of any of my appts regarding my thyroid and clinical symptoms . No record of all the private testing I've sent by email . So I shall be ringing as to enquire why and wish for it all to be added to my records . It is baffling me a bit.

When a doctor first refused to accept my "they're private" blood results, I said "So, if I collapse in the street and am rushed into hospital the staff there will pull up my records to be denied these results?"

I also suggest you complete - and date - the Thyroid UK symptoms list (pdf from its website), complete it in a very bright colour and send that with your results.
