I check antibodies from time to time even though I know there’s no need once a Hashi diagnosis has been given but I find it interesting to see what changed and why. They’ve have been consistently low since diagnosed and starting Metavive. 7 years ago. Why suddenly the high TgAb?
I haven’t taken any supplements for several months and no B12 or folate for almost 11 months. Could this have something to do with it?
Core nutrients have all been very high for a long time but Vit D and B12 complex need re-starting because they’re just about mediocre now. Ferritin remains very good after a period of being over range
Any insights?
Thank you

Antibodies fluctuate. That's all you can say. And they're totally unpredictable.
This results on their own wouldn't suggest a hyper swing - I presume that's what you mean by 'flare'. You'd have to compare them to your last results to see how they've changed. But it is possible that the antibodies have risen due to an immune system attack on the thyroid.

Thank you gg, that’s exactly what I mean by a flare. Perhaps I have the terminology wrong
As for making comparisons to previous tests, my frees rise and fall according to my dose and for the last few months I’ve been tweaking doses and switching from combination to bovine only, to lower FT3, which at one point was 10.9, and to raise FT4
Well, an FT3 over 10 really does suggest a 'hyper' swing. But, with Hashi's levels are going to fluctuate a bit all the time.
The problem with calling it a flare is that it confuses people because they start thinking about flares-ups, as with arthritis or something. And you then find out that what they mean is their hypo symptoms getting worse rather than developing hyper symptoms. So it all gets very confusing. And, in the strictest sense of the word, it's not a flare at all. But it is a swing - from hypo to false 'hyper' and back again to hypo. But I always like to check so that we're not talking at cross purposes.
At the time when FT3 was 10.9 I’d been expecting it to be high because I’d been experimenting with larger doses of Metavive. As soon as I reduced the dose the overmedicated feeling subsided and my frees slotted back into range
I’m at the point now that even a a small dose change, whether an increase or decrease, alters how I feel
agree with GG (of course!) my experience of a swing/flare was over range FT3 and FT4 and sweaty face, upset tum, loud heartbeat. My TPO went up too but they do for all sorts of reasons.
I don’t think you are there yet depending the timing of your test and how the Metavive stays in your system.
My over range frees were as a result of taking too much Metavive so the overmedicated feeling began to subside within days of reducing the dose but I was wondering what the sudden raised antibodies were about because as far as I’m aware, the only time they were raised was when I was first diagnosed 7 years ago and recently
Apologies for the misunderstanding but gg has clarified the difference between a flare/swing/immune system attack
