I posted some while ago about my adult daughter and her (what I believe to be) thyroid problem and her refusal to pursue the matter. Well, her GP has said as she has so many issues going on- IBS, PCOS, migraine, sinusitis, hypermobility, Asperger's/autism, perhaps a functional medicine GP/practitioner would be helpful. The fact that I mentioned this before fell on deaf ears. Now her GP has mentioned it she wants to find out more!
Does anyone have any information as to where one can find out about these people-is there a federation, or Association of practitioners of this holistic method? Any pointers would be welcome!!

I am a little mixed up but is as you put it "A functional medicine GP/practitioner" not just another way of saying doctor and why are you looking into this if your daughter is an adult should she be the one to decide if she needs a doctor what age range is she? i think that you should just let her decide if she wants to see a doctor.
She wasn't diagnosed until she was 44! She is a veterinary surgeon-extremely good at her job, struggled not knowing why she struggled! When the person asked at her assessment, "What do you do that is different to "normal " people (!) she said How do I know?? She managed so well, it wasn't picked up at any of her schools, university, and although we knew she was 'different' as she is single minded, dedicated, and thorough, it wasn't on our radar-and I was a Teacher!
It’s getting diagnosed a lot more nowadays, especially late diagnosis in women. I’ve noticed some practitioners are now acknowledging ASD/ADHD with their clients (our local wellness rooms who run yoga and massage classes do for example) and taking it into consideration (my son is AuDHD and I suspect am too). There’s a lot of overlap with neurodivergence and hypermobility, methylation issues, female hormone sensitivity, migraines. Once you research the functional practitioners it’s worth asking them if they have an interest or knowledge of ASD. You need someone to look at the whole picture. Good luck
This isn't strictly on point, but as you mentioned that your daughter is hypermobile, please urge her to be as Covid conscious as possible, since there is now peer-reviewed scientific evidence of a link between hypermobility and Long Covid.
