Make sure to drink plenty of water the day before test

Exercise for 10-15mins

Hand in bowl of hot water before test

Stand up to do test

Allow yourself plenty of time

If you don’t think you have enough blood in test tube, still send it off

If it’s no good they can send another kit and you can either try again or opt for private blood draw at clinic near you

Yes! I only recently discovered how much drinking the day before helps. I drink am extra litre the day before.

I have never been able to get blood out of myself so I pay £35 at a clinic to have a nurse draw my blood

Yes despite the tips…10 punctured digits but still not enough blood in phial! And I’m a diabetic with years of experience of finger pricking…perhaps that’s my problem thick skin!

An extra tip which I've found helpful is to give the lancet a very slight twist. This makes the cut very slightly bigger.
