hi all, so after increasing my dose to 100mcg I have felt slightly brighter which is amazing.
However, I think I’m currently having a flare up, I have a ‘full’ feeling in my throat and a sore throat when swallowing on one side. My question is, is there anything I can do to reduce flares in the future? Does gluten free help flares? I must say my diet has been full of processed foods over Christmas!!
thanks in advance x

Depends what you mean by 'a flare'. Different people mean different things. Some people mean their hypo symptoms get worse, and others mean they have hyper symptoms because of a Hashi's 'hyper' swing. If you mean a false 'hyper' swing, then no, there's nothing you can do to reduce them. And it's doubtful that diet has anything to do with it. But, they do get less frequent and less severe as time goes on and more and more of the thyroid is destroyed, meaning there is less tissue to attack.
I find that stress and seasonal bugs can give me swollen glands and thyroidy throat, having family around with all their demands on my attention (the elderly more than the young) and it being so busy and too much rich food definitely contributes to mine. I’ve been strictly gluten and dairy free for a few years now, but still get it, so not sure it’s that. Sulphites are a possibility as is alcohol.
If I am having a Hashi hyper swing/ flare get face sweats, loose bowels, faster resting pulse (normal is 56 for me).
thank you! I have recently had a chest infection so could still be lingering. Seems to be more bugs than normal this year. I’m a mum of a 2 and 4 year old so maybe it is stress lol
