I've been treating myself with ndt for some years now. My gp has started testing my thyroid profile again and is somewhat alarmed at my suppressed tsh, my thyroid hormones are within the reference interval. Endocrinology want me to stop the ndt and start taking 150mcg of levo. I'm not keen. The endo sent me a letter (I've not been to see them ) telling me that his predecessor unwisely had some patients on erf and they are now switching everyone over to t4. They are quoting all the usual dangers, I'm concerned that they are quoting levothroxine equivalents, I'm not sure that works.I'm living in East Cheshire, has anybody had success getting on to t4 and t3 at any hospital within say 50 miles of me?
Thanks.

If you are happy sourcing your own NDT and feel well on it I'd disregard anything your GP and this Endo say. If you arent reliant on the NHS for thyroid meds then their opinions are entirely superfluous.
And you arent obliged to let the GP run thyroid NHS tests either. The old adage if it aint broke dont fix it applies here. You could find FT4 and FT3 combi, even if you could get it prescribed, and its a big if, doesnt suit you.
In a nutshell unless you want you come off NDT for cost or supply issues I would be wary of letting the NHS meddle with your medication.
I dont know why you would Jazz, you obviously know far more than they do😁. I'd like to run a poll and ask members how many have felt better and improved their health after a GP/ Endo interfered with their regime. Not many would be my guess.
I've just had a telecall from my NHS Endo (who is just keeping me on his register to keep an eye on my treatment). He has just said that I am doing well and know enough to carry on doing what I am doing (under the guidance of a private Endo as well. My private Endo also agrees with what I am doing and I only really need him to give me a private prescription for NDT from Roseway Labs.
