Hi, your T3 is really low, just about creeping into lower end of range around about 10%.Your T4 is around 60%.Are you currently taking thyroid meds? Having hypo symptoms?

No this test was to check my thyroid levels....gp only tests tsh & I've been having awful hypo symptoms, feel really ill all the time & I was originally diagnosed in 2013 & took thyroxine, but stopped taking it in 2016 (long story) so now just trying to see what's going on with my health. Yes I'm not surprised your having lots of hypo symptoms with T3 as low as that.Ive read of other people stopping their meds and they feel grand for a while but it can do lots of damage long term.As you know the TSH reading alone is useless.My GP refused to do anything until the TSH was over 10 so what chance do we have.

Is it possible for you to start back on the levo on a small daily dose or does it not agree with you? Your hypo symptoms will increase the longer you are off the meds and it can take a long time to repair the damage. I was left woefully undermedicated for about a year and I'm just back to normal after about 3 years. Your B12, vitamin D, ferritin and folate will also plummet while hypo.

I guess it's a discussion I need to have now with my doctor, I was fine on levothyroxine before from what I can remember, but that was a long time ago now & I react to meds a lot more now unfortunately. I've just sent off for an iron panel test after Slowdragon recommended on here that I get those tested so that's coming from monitor my health, the same company that did my thyroid tests.

My B12 she said is low as had that tested in June with the doctors...so going to start supplementing that from today when the b12 drops come from Amazon.

Yes defo next step is with your GP. Make list of all your symptoms and take your Monitor My Health results along too.Good luck, hope you get sorted soon.

With such low Ft3 ….highly likely low vitamin levels

Next step

Get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once to see if your hypothyroidism is autoimmune

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high TPO and/or high TG thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Significant minority of Hashimoto’s patients only have high TG antibodies (thyroglobulin)

20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis

In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

For good conversion of Ft4 (levothyroxine) to Ft3 (active hormone) we must maintain GOOD vitamin levels

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Hi...thank you for your reply. If I take these results to my gp & a list of my symptoms...do you think they will look at prescribing levothyroxine with the t3 being so low?

Get vitamin levels tested FIRST

likely som3 will be very low

Optimal vitamin levels

Vitamin D at least over 80nmol

Active B12 at least over 70

Serum B12 over 500

Folate at top of range

Ferritin at least over 70
