Hi everyone! I check in frequently and read the new posts. I’ve been on I Levo50mcg and then added 5mcg t3. Two days in starting the t 3 I felt so much better. After a month my eyebrows started to regrow and so did the hair on my arms. Went to Gp yesterday and she increased t3 to 7.5, 5 in am and 2.5 in afternoon. Here are labs:
T3 total (76-181)-82
TSH .(40-4.50)-1.83
T4 free.(8-1.8)-1.3
Thyroid antibodies <9)- 1
Vit b 12 (200-1100)-407
Folate low( <3.4)-9.1
Am cortisol (4-22) 27.6
I am taking b12, d3 and magnesium daily. Are they still too low? My GP has ordered a cortisol challenge test in 2 weeks then new thyroid labs in 6 weeks. I have an endo consult the end of this month. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks from across the pond!

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test
Was test done this way
Free T4 (fT4) 1.3 pmol/L (.8 - 1.8)
Ft4 is now only 50.0% through range
Likely to need increase in Levo AFTER next blood test
With serum B12 result below 500, (Or active B12 below 70) recommended to be taking a separate B12 supplement
A week later add a separate vitamin B Complex
Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.
If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week
Low folate
supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)
This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too
Igennus B complex popular option. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose and may need separate methyl folate couple times a week
Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
Thank you. I did test at 7:30 am water only with no meds x 24 hrs. I’ve had trouble taking B complex and B 12. They make me sick and I feel like I ate rocks I did some b12 shots and now I take b12 sublingual that is made from food I can’t take the synthetic type of B 12. I do have a Vit D 25-oh total result(30-100) 50 I forgot to add I take 50mcg of D 3 every night and get a lot of sun. I am a tennis player and do strength training I have been in a calorie deficit as well but still no weight loss That is why my GP is doing the cortisol challenge test She did not test Ferritin
