Timing of blood test.

I have contacted my surgery with a view to being referred to a Consultant from the Thyroid UK list to obtain a T4 T3 combo as suggested in my previous posts.I am now sat waiting for a blood test at 1.45pm having taken my Levothyroxine before bed last night.

How is this going to effect my results.

Have given them my Medichecks results but they are not accepting them.

Many thanks 😊

TSH result will be a little bit lower than it would have been earlier in the morning .

(TSH is highest middle of the night/ very early am. and falls to it's lowest around 1-3pm then rises again) .

fT4 result may be a tiny bit higher than it would be if you'd left 24 hrs from last dose. not significantly though

Oh dear! It was below the range originally. That is not going to go down well with the doctor! Especially as my T4 was top of the range.

How much have you been taking over last 2 months

A more even dose hopefully

Ideally ALWAYS test early morning, before 9am, only drinking water between waking and test and last dose Levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Do you always get same brand Levothyroxine at each prescription

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Remember to stop any supplements that contain biotin 5-7 days before testing

Taking more even dose now. 4 .x 75 3 x 100 alternatively as suggested.Only contacted Doctor this morning via online form so not had time to prep for blood test at all.

I take vit B12&K2 spray, Magnesium and Biomel complete gut.

None of these have been stopped before test, so taken yesterday.

Not at all ideal but have had little choice I'm afraid.

Would be better to rebook test for early morning if at all possible

Have telephone appt 4th October. Will use the excuse that I havnt been on my new dose long enough to reflect in results yet! She doesn't know when I changed dose. Hopefully I can arrange a better time for the blood test when I can prepare for it.
