first time poster here, 37yo M. I have been feeling exhausted for a long time now and been struggling with constipation. We can’t find a reason for this but my GP did some bloods that showed a normal T4/T3 but a TSH of 3.7 which is the upper limit of the normal range.
I have been begging to trial thyroid hormone replacement but my GP insists that this is not indicated due to my normal T3/4. Anyone else had similar experiences? I can’t afford to go private.
thanks in advance!

Hypothyroid symptoms start creeping in when the TSH rises over 2 and years ago you were diagnosed as hypothyroid and prescribed thyroid hormone replacement once the TSH rose over 3 .
I'm guessing your T3/T4 levels are not high enough in the range for you - and why you feel as you do.
Do you have the results and ranges and can share with forum members ?
Were thyroid antibodies run - as if these show as positive you might get prescribed sooner than the current guidelines which I believe state that a TSH needs to be at least over 5 on 2 separate blood tests around 2 months apart, or one TSH test coming back over 10 before a diagnosis can be made and thyroid hormone replacement prescribed.
No thyroid hormone replacement works well until your core strength vitamins and minerals are up and maintained at optimal levels - so you might get these blood tests run in the meantime and be better prepared for the inevitable.
Another GP who needs to up his game! He/she needs to do a little reading which tells him/her your thyroid is failing and needs help - and I'm no doctor but I can read!
