A big thank you and a wee update!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all that helped. I posted a couple of months ago about interpreting my bloods whilst continuing to suffer quite debilitating symptoms. I took your advice and got my private bloods done, and then saw a private endocrinologist that had prescribed T3 before. She asked me my story, I handed her my blood results and she immediately said I needed T3. Between us we have spent the last 2 weeks trying to persuade my GP to prescribe it, but unfortunately they will not budge! Anyway I am too keen to start the treatment as my symptoms are just getting worse so gave up today and ordered the private prescription. For the first time throughout it all I feel positive about getting my life back. I know there is no guarantee! But honestly I think I am positive because my endocrinologist was a breath of fresh air, up until then I had seen many Gp’s who told me my symptoms were not thyroid related, or had to Google search in front of me, it was just getting very tiring and was increasing my stress levels and destroying any hope of returning to my very active lifestyle. optimism and hope are so very important when your health is challenged.

A big thank you to a wonderful community!

🎉🎉🎉 The greatest gift guaranteed from this forum is HOPE!!! Usually followed by feeling better ☺️

I can handle these symptoms when I know it takes time but at least I’m on the best possible path.

I’ll never forget the first year on 50 Levo a day, still feeling horrible, and my doctor making me feel like there was something else wrong. There was nothing else wrong - I just needed to get my free Ts into the upper quadrant!!!That was all! 🤯

well done

If endocrinologist is private consultation then GP can’t prescribe T3

Initial 3 month trial of T3 on NHS has to be via NHS endocrinologist prescription via hospital

So many, many U.K. patients get T3 prescribed privately

Cheapest option by far is Thybon Henning 20mcg tablets……cutting into 1/4’s to get 5mcg

Thybon Henning is approx £60-£80 per 100 tablets

Typical starting dose is 5mcg …..or even 2.5mcg twice daily

Looking at previous post

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu....

Did you get ferritin and folate retested

Ft4 was quite low, there was room to increase levothyroxine.

Excellent!... have you sorted out your supplements as your B12 and Vit D needed doubling so likely your folate (test failed) would benefit with a good B complex too🤗

yes sorted out my supplements so hopefully next bloods will show an improvement . Going to pay for a Venus sample next time ( 6 weeks) as can’t seem to get folate and ferritin samples with finger prick test.

She has dropped my levo initially to 100 , she was worried the GP would freak out with my TSH levels so low, but think she will increase it again when needed.
