Vitamin B12 - Missing piece?

Hello Everyone,

I hope you're all enjoying the sunshine!

I've recently started taking Vitamin B12 supplements (specifically, cytoplan.co.uk/vitamin-b12-... ) on weekends before bedtime, and I've noticed some positive effects. The following day, I experience noticeably better sleep and an overall improved sense of well-being. While there's always room for improvement, these initial results are encouraging.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with Vitamin B12 ?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Has anyone else had similar experiences with Vitamin B12 ?

Yes, me.

In 2010 I took a high dose B Complex that contained all the worst forms of B vitamins - all the inactive ones that need conversion in the body. It did nothing for me except waste money. I knew nothing about active and inactive forms of B vitamins at the time.

In 2013 I found out about active and inactive B vitamins and started taking high dose methylcobalamin amongst other B vitamins.

I developed spots as I approached puberty, and I remember my mother assuring me that I would grow out of them. I never did - until I started taking methylcobalamin in my 50s.

I also developed eczema at the age of 9. That never got better completely throughout my life although the severity fluctuated. It disappeared when I started taking methylcobalamin too.

In both the case of the spots and the eczema they actually got worse for a few weeks when I started taking the methylcobalamin but then both problems went away completely.

For anyone interested in knowing which forms of B vitamins are active and which are inactive :

Its recommended to test all key vitamin levels - ferritin, folate, B12 & D3 then raise them all to OPTIMAL.

We need OPTIMAL vitamin levels for our thyroid hormone to work well.

When hypo we get low stomach acid which means we cannot absorb vitamins well from our food, regardless of a great diet. For thyroid hormone to work well we need OPTIMAL levels of vitamins.

Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost. thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...

There is also a new company offering walk in& mail order blood tests in London, Kent, Sussex & Surrey areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

If you are deficient in B12 becuase you ar vegean/vegeterian than B12 supplements will help unless you have malabsorption. Otherwise you need injections becuase the improvement with supplements is usually only temporary. If you are not deficient than B12 in general helps with energy and the nervous system.
