Iron problem?

Hi,I have a low iron saturation - latest blood tests show range = just out (low side). Apologies I haven't got details atm.

Although I do supplement with iron it's obviously not enough?

I'm not too sure regarding Folate and Ferritin?

What exactly do I purchase?

You mustn’t supplement iron without a blood test. Ferritin, folate and B12 are essential blood tests as a starting point.

I think you might be talking about Ancestral supps. They are indeed a good source of iron but take medical advice first.

You will need full iron panel before starting iron supplements

It’s possible to have low ferritin but high iron

Test early morning, only water to drink between waking and test. Avoid high iron rich dinner night before test

Stop iron supplements 5-7 days before testing

Meanwhile……Look at increasing iron rich foods in diet

Eating iron rich foods like liver or liver pate once a week plus other red meat, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate, plus daily orange juice or other vitamin C rich drink can help improve iron absorption
