recently seen an endocrinologist privately who had diagnosed Hashimotos (high TPO and inflammation on thyroid on ultrasound). Minimal symptoms apart from 2 miscarriages
I’ve tried levothyroxine which made me feel very unwell for about 2 months and her only suggestion was to try a different brand.
have read a lot around gluten & dairy free diet which I am already doing.
Considering getting a second opinion privately so would appreciate any suggestions of good consultants to see please (private message pls as per my understanding of the rules of the group). Equally to ask if anyone has seen Dr Conway at the Thyroid Clinic?
Finally any thoughts of Hashimotos during pregnancy and the need to take levo would be very much appreciated

How much and which brand
Are you currently taking any Levo
What are your most recent thyroid and vitamin results
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease
Low iron/ferritin can cause miscarriages
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
You may be better off with a fertility clinic. But, equally, if you do have a suggestion for an endocrinologist who also specialises in pregnancy please do message me as I’d be interested too.
Sorry about your losses.
A bit like Levothyroxine, I think when it comes to endocrinologists or any consultant for that matter, it’s all a bit trial and error.
By the way, lots of people consider LDN to reduce antibodies preconception as there is some theory that reducing the TPOs may help.
30. Do not post information about specific endocrinologists or doctors on the main board without their permission as this may result in unwanted attention from certain areas of the medical profession. If you wish to discuss a particular endocrinologist or doctor, you may mention his/her name and location, providing that you ask for comments by private message only.
It is usual for posts asking for information about doctors to be closed so that prevents naming and opinions of specific doctors.
It is OK to ask about a specific doctor - as you have done. But replies about that doctor need to be by Private Message.
However, as your post asks much more, I'll leave it open. But if anyone mentions other doctors or provides opinions on the named named, the reply will be edited or deleted.
