TSH fallen

Uplawmoorlass profile image
12 Replies

My gp has just marked my results as 'normal for this patient' but I can see that my TSH has fallen from

TSH 1.38 munit/L in Sept 2023 to

TSH - 0.30 munit/L June 2024

ST T4 was 9.2 pmol/L in Sept 2023 and now

SF T4 -11.90 pmol/L June 2024

should I be concerned about the fall in TSH?

So now we need more info about the test

What time of day was it done? What are the reference ranges for this test? How long did you leave between taking levo and blood draw?

And, do you feel good?

I had the bloods done at 8.40 am and had my last dose of levothyroxine 24 hours previously.

the normal ranges for this lab are:

TSH 0.35 - 5.50 munit/L

SF T4 7.86 - 14.41 pmol/L

I never feel good these days even although I now have B12 injections ever 12 weeks too.

mine has been low and getting lower but also normal according to local practice. Mine was 0.05 in September 2023 last blood test for this. I’m on 100mcg thyroxine.

Important question....How do you feel?

Are you still taking 75mcg levo daily?

Can you please add reference ranges to your results?

Falling TSH could mean several things....but quessing the answer is not helpful.

In any case, research has shown that TSH is not a reliable marker

thyroidpatients.ca/2021/07/...

Ideally we need both FT4 and FT3. the latter dificult to achieve from the NHS....which is rediculous!!

Many of us have to test privately.....to prove the point!!

This is a basic test with discount available with code. THYROIDUK10

monitormyhealth.org.uk/thyr...

However a more expensive full thyroid test is better it includes...

TSH, FT4, FT3, vit D, vit B12, folate, ferritin and thyroid antibodies TPO and Tg

Essential nutrients support thyroid function/ conversion

We are all individuals with individual needs and they should be aiming to establish your therapeutic level

"Normal" is not a helpful comment!

Good luck!

In Wolverhampton I find NHS endocrinologist consultants can order and obtain FT4 FT3 and TSH blood test results without difficulty, but GPs usually only manage to obtain TSH results. So it can be helpful to have a referral to an endocrinologist if you have a need for more than a TSH result. Thats my personal experience

I so wish I could give you some reliable advice..I am still confused with all the different things I've been told..I am off to see a Specialist on the 18th of July ..and I'm hopeful to leave with some answers.I feel dreadful, losing weight, anxiety is hitting me hard and being in my 70s I don't need this.My multi nodular goitre is causing my to choke on swallowing water and food etc etc.. Please send positive vibes to Lil old me in NZ...As I said, I so want to give you some good advice but I honestly can't give you any until I get some myself.

Take care and il post again when I figure all of these out 🤗
