what to do now ?

Hi All

Confused what to do next ?

These are my results after 6 weeks on new regime

Bloods taken 8am and 12 hours after last dose of T3

125 mcg Tirosint

2.5 mcg T3

I’m feeling much warmer and brain fog is better although I do feel a little angst and teary at times ? Energy is much better.

My Endo says there is not much change so a reduce in dose is required ?

Before my app next week I would be very happy to hear what your thoughts are ?

Many thanks

I can't see any results!

My Endo says there is not much change so a reduce in dose is required ?

I simply do not understand what the endo is saying here - nor why! Can you explain why they are saying that?

Nothing about those results says to me that your dose should be reduced.

That’s what I think so I booked an appointment next week just wanted to be a step ahead so I can discuss my next step.

Thinking it’s due to suppressed TSH which I’ve had before and he’s not been worried about

As My T3 is still a little low so maybe he’s thinking if I increase T3 I would need to reduce T4 ???

Hello Joskie :

The comments from the endo make no sense at all :

You say you are feeling somewhat improved - so why remove these benefits ?

Surely the logical comment is to build the dose up a little more and increae the T3 another 2.50 mcg.

As generally speaking when taking a T3/T4 combo - we feel best when the T3 and T4 are around 60/70% though the ranges :

Currently your T3 is around 46% with your T4 at around 74% -

Taking T3 does lower the TSH - that is fact - and not the excuse offered - not to prescribe T3 -

and once taking thyroid hormone replacement the TSH is the least reliable measure of anything and we must be dosed and monitored by our Free T3 and Free T4 readings- and dosed to the relief of symptoms.

Thank you Pennyannie

Totally agree hence my confusion and what you say makes total sense to me too.

It will be interesting to see what he is going to suggest !

So am I right in thinking just adding a little more T3 without altering T4 meds may do the trick ?

This will take my dose above 125mcg that have been on for years ?

I suppose I won't know without trying

Thanks

Exactly - everyone persons set point for where their body starts to metabolise is unique to them -

it's somewhere in these ranges - and it reads as though you are getting closer :

So what's happened - what's changed ?

What is the problem with your eyes ?

Apologises for confusion , teary being emotional but that too could be menopausal !

My levels have changed since adding HRT a few years ago now and wandering if this is the problem

I have more energy which is positive

Personally I wouldn't know but yes, I read on here that some forum members find they need to ' up ' their thyroid hormone replacement dose after they have started HRT.

I'm sorry I don't wish to upset you - just ensure if taking any OTC eye drops, sprays or ointments that they are all Preservative Free :
