Shril97,

My reply will sound like the ultimate in being UNhelpful - but it isn't meant to be!

I can tell you where you cannot find the price of Liothyronine 20microgram tablets (Morningside Healthcare Ltd).

The NHS has a huge database of devices and medicines called dm+d.

All current NHS medicines should be on there (and there are very tight time limits for updates - something like three days).

And the information for these says:

Liothyronine 20microgram tablets (Morningside Healthcare Ltd) 28 tablet 2 x 14 tablets

Price information

Price basis

No Price Available

dmd-browser.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/a...

I cannot explain why there is no cost/price information.

Thanks, yes I'd seen that but wondered if I was missing something, I'll ring the company up I think. My Scottish health board has started objecting because of price so I want to check the difference between them and others - I'm vegetarian and the others all seem to have gelatin in them

I hope you are not falling into what always looks like a trap!

Teva contains pregelatinised starch which has absolutely nothing to do with gelatin.

Starch gelatinization

Not to be confused with gelatin, which consists of protein instead of starch

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starc...

Advanz/Mercury Pharma and Teva Liothyronine do not contain gelatin.

My UK medicines document lists all ingredients of all UK thyroid hormone medicines.

helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.

I highly recommend viewing on a computer screen, or a decent sized tablet, rather than a phone. Even I find it less than satisfactory trying to view them on my phone.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - UK

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Includes descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, etc. PLUS how to write prescriptions in Appendix F.

helvella - World Desiccated Thyroid

Contains details of all known desiccated thyroid products including information about several products not considered to be Natural Desiccated Thyroid (NDT/Desiccated Thyroid Extract/DTE).

dropbox.com/scl/fi/gx6dmz5i...

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - RotW

Contains details of all levothyroxine, liothyronine and combination products - excluding desiccated thyroid products. Details available vary by country and manufacturer.

The link below takes you to a blog page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones. You will have to scroll down or up to find the link to the document you want.

Trouble is, the NHS Drug Tariff shows what the NHS will pay. Not what the companies might charge!

Advanz - £95.00

dmd-browser.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/a...

Teva - £67.85

dmd-browser.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/a...

Viatris (Sigmapharm) - £147.14
