I have no thyroid .I presently take 75 mcg Levo and 10mcg Liothyronine and have felt well on that dose (I have no symptoms that suggest I am over medicated)
But my FT3 was 8.5 - because there was only about an hour between me taking my Thyroid medications and the clinic taking bloods for a Thyroid screen butI didn't know about not taking my meds just before a blood test till now, as it can give wrong results
Now my Endo has decided to change my Lyothronine to 10mcg one day and 5mcg the next, and so on on the basis of that .
I am concerned as I understand that this should NOT be done because of the nature of how Liothyronine is absorbed. Can anyone help with articles I can send to him about this, as I think to take one dose one day and a different one the next will make me ill.Thank you, everyone.

it's quite scary .... you'd think the idiocy of taking different doses of T3 everyday would be self evident to anyone who knew what T3 was ... apparently not.
You are correct you must take EXACTLY same dose T3 everyday
Test was done incorrectly and result invalid
Tell endo you were on high dose biotin, therefore test result is questionable
Then retest correctly early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
Medichecks and BH also offer private blood draw at clinic near you, or private nurse to your own home…..for an extra fee
What vitamin supplements are you taking
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
Write to the Endo and explain that the results were not accurate because you were taking biotin and you would like to repeat the test in 10 days without taking biotin to get an accurate result. Ask for the incorrect results to be removed (they can do this) and that you would like to carry on with the old dosing until the results of the correct test are done. Tell him you are sure he would like accurate results for his file.
Then dont take any T3 for 24 hours to ensure the results are low.
They just have to fiddle to pretend they are doing good, dont they!
yep it might be worth paying £24 to monitor my health nhs lab to test in optimal conditions. It’s pretty hard to get an nhs blood test at the optimal time. Maybe thyroid ought to be given same priority as fasting glucose for early morning slots. Simple idea- big result.
