Lovely part of Scotland. Prescriptions are free across Scotland without the need to fill out any forms etc, but regarding T3 I couldn't tell you as I only get levo. I don't live in Dumfries so can't really comment on hospitals there either. I do know that the Dumfries and Galloway Royal infirmary was rebuilt and opened just a few years ago. Hopefully, someone else in Forum can provide you with more useful info.
As caledoniancat says. T3 is available (free) on prescription and access to endos is not as restrictive as here in England or at least in the North East.
As to your liking for that particular area, some parts are distinctly more rural than others. That might be exactly what you are after though. I love Moffat. That’s near where my family were originally from but moved to the Central belt many moons ago for work.
There is a difficult political situation going on in Scotland at the moment but honestly I don’t think we are doing well south of the border either.
Hi RainbowshakerI live in Scotland. NHS Scotland's stance on t3 is that anyone who has unresolved symptoms on monotherapy is entitled to a trial of t3. Getting past gp and through the referral pathway can be trickier. I am assuming that you already get your prescription from nhs England so you have already completed your trial. I'm not familiar with that health board but given that it's an NHS scotland policy, it shouldn't make a difference? You might need to take your own letters from endo when you register with gp to hand them over personally. It would be terrible if notes went missing and you had to start the process again. Not saying it would happen but you never know! Also transfer or notes might take time! I would also maybe give the local pharmacy a ring and see what they say. Mine didn't want me splitting tablets as the dosage can be inaccurate so she hunted down the endo and made him change the prescription! Might be easier to have that done before a move. So far I've not had any problems. 🤞. I'm in a different area though. Hope that helps! Good luck.
Good luck to you. I don't see that there should be a problem. Although I would definitely have copies of letters myself just in case. I'm also on a named brand and that seems to have been fine so far as well! I hope you get settled soon.
I moved to Scotland from England several years ago and find the Healthcare is good. Free prescriptions avoid you paying for the season ticket in England unless you're exempt.
Not heard anything bad about the Hospital in Dumfries. GPs are the same mixed bunch you find anywhere. Complex referrals (Neurosurgery etc) will I imagine be to Glasgow or Edinburgh.
We don't seem to have online access to health records like England does.
Had a holiday in D&G once, it's full of English people!
