HiHad pain in side of neck and behind ears. Gp sent me for thyroid ultrasound as have underactive thyroid and hashimotos. Ultrasound was 2 minutes long and even the assistant tech said that was quick.
Has anybody else had a thyroid scan that quick?
Felt like he started scan then just stopped. Wierd

I’ve had/seen a few done. They always consist of … I’m going to guess, but probably about 15-20 measurements… maybe more? They are basically measuring and testing tissue type across the whole thyroid. They push the wand firm into certain areas and click the mouse button, as they do they are clicking once to start where to measure, then clicking again as they draw a line for where to end the measurement. There is also a density/tissue type element where they see a red-amber-green color that I think also means something.
And remember, they do their routine on one side… then they ask you to turn your head and they do the other side, then you have to look straight up and they do the middle.
I’ve had two myself, and watched be daughter’s get done.
I’m not sure how many minutes, but it was methodical while they did one side, then the other, then the middle, with constant clicking and wand sliding to position and reposition and get just the right area. They are efficient and wand & click very quickly, but it still feels like they’ve wanded the whole thyroid by the em time they are done.
Get the report and images, and you should have an idea of what they scanned.
