I speed from Armour Thyroid (1 grain am 3/4 pm ) last Monday to 50 mcg Levo and 10mcg Liothyronibe am and another 10 mcg pm. Bloods done Tuesday am (last dose T4 24 hrs before and split T3 am/3:00 pm and 7:30 pm). Only water before test at 7:30 am. Results below.

I’m wondering how quickly the change in dose / meds would be noticeable- I feel absolutely exhausted. Miserable and irritable and weepy. Obviously it too soon for more bloods but wondering if I should just take more - but T4 or T3?

All comments welcome.

Hello Karen-Eleanor :

I'm not sure there is any formula to use as we all utilise thyroid hormones differently -

especially the conversion of T4 - and yes it's too soon to see any blood test results -

So purely as a numbers game - switching from 1+ 3/4 Armour to synthetic breaks down as -

15.75 T3 + 66.50 T4 to 20 mcg T3 + 50 mcg T4 - so now a little more T3 and a little less T4 :

Did Armour not work for you ?

Do you have Hashimoto's and liable to own erratic thyroid hormone production ( sorry - should have looked back before I replied ) ?

No thyroid hormone replacement works well until the core strength vitamins and minerals - those of ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D are up and maintained at optimal -

I know now I need ferritin at around 100 - folate around 20 - active B12 around 125 ( serum B12 500 ++ ) and vitamin D at around 125.

Hi Pennie Armour works well but I can’t afford to carry on with it now that we are both retired. When we lived in Gloucestershire my GP prescribed AT but we’re now in the Midlands. Also hubby wants someone to monitor it . The local Endo will prescribe T4/3 but not Armour.
