Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well. Happy Friday!

I had a blood test on Monday, and I took your advice. I had a very early morning test, 8:50AM. I also didn’t take my thyroid medication 24 hours before the test.

The doctor phoned me today and asked me if I was taking my thyroid medication. I explained that yes I had been taking them at the same time everyday for absolutely ages. I didn’t tell him on purpose that I missed my thyroid meds before the blood test. I could hear the ‘hmm’s’ coming from his voice. He said that my thyroid level is very low, but is high on the test chart. I am currently on 125mg of Levothyroxine, and he has prescribed me a bulk of 25mg extra for me to pick up from the pharmacy to take along with my 125mg. So essentially I’ll be taking 150mg a day. Is this good? Is this bad? I am really not sure.

I have attached a picture of my results for you to take a look. I trust your advice 🙌🏽 I also don’t know the correct terminology, but did they test for the right thing? On July 4th 2023 my Serum TSH was 0.28 mIU/L .

Please advise xx

Did they only test TSH?

Thats a huge jump for your TSH. Have you changed how you take it or take it with something else?

To fully make an assessment we need to see TSH, FT4 & FT3.

What are your latest vitamin results?

What are you supplementing with?

Approximately how much do you weigh in kilos?

Hi Jaydee,

They did test other things too, I am happy to show you? Sorry I am really ignorant when it comes to my health and I am trying to learn more.

I participated in fasting last month, which may have affected my thyroid a little bit as I was taking it at like 3/4AM, my stomach wouldn’t have been empty as my last meal was quite late around 10ish sometimes even 11PM. I don’t know where to find the information for TSH, T4 & T3, it doesn’t mention it on my tests. Maybe it does it could be worded something else? I am not sure.

Which vitamins do you want to know? There’s loads of tests on there but not sure which ones are vitamin. At the moment I am taking my thyroid meds, vitamin D3/K2 capsule, metformin and as of like 9 days ago I have been taking MEDROXYPROGESTERONE 10mg AKA Provera to help start my period as I have PCOS.

Last time I weighed myself unfortunately I was 255lbs which I believe is 115KG :(

So according to the weight calculation which is really only a guide and you may need something similar your final dose would be around 184mcgs Levo.

weight in kilos x 1.6 - approx dose.

So likely you need more Levo anyway and do try and take it here possible on an empty stomach, an hour before food or drinks other than water.

How much vit D are you taking?

Do you hav results for ferritin, folate, B12 & D3?

These are my most recent blood test results:

- Serum Ferritin, latest result is from December 20th 2023 = 138 ug/L

- Serum Folate, latest result is from 21st November 2023 = 5.6 ug/L

- Serum Vitamin B12, latest results is from 21st November 2023 = 374 ng/L

Looking at my tests I don’t think they ever tested me for D3. The above say it’s within range apparently.

I have attached a pic of the vitamin I take, it says to take a twice a day, but I usually just take 2 together. Should I take 100mg + 25mg + 25mg + 25mg for now do you think?

I’m happy to post a pic of all my recent results tbh, thank you

2,000iu may not be enough to get your level to OPTIMAL.

Vit D should be tested twice a year. NHS easy postal kit vitamin D test £31 via

vitamindtest.org.uk

Both your B12 & folate are too low depsite being within range. Suggest you start a good methyl/active type B complex to help keep all the B's in balance.

Some supplement suggestions: Slightly cheaper options with inactive B6:

amazon.co.uk/Liposomal-Soft...

Contains B6 as P5P an active form:

bigvits.co.uk/thorne-resear...

Explanation about the different forms of B6:

25mcg is the maximum you should change at any time. Stick with the increase your GP has given you and retest as per the protocol in 6-8 weeks time.

Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw, last T3 dose 8-12 hours before blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process).

Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.

Hi!

Have you ever had your antibodies tested? That would be thyroperoxidase (TPO) antibody and thyroglobulin (TG) antibody. Autoimmune attack on your thyroid can make tsh fluctuate.
