How long before this test did you take your last dose of levo?
What time of day was the blood test?
FT3 is at 70% which is good but FT4 over range which isn't good.
I already have Hashimotos diagnosis but trying to get levels right. On 150 Levo. Test at 740am, 24hrs after taking my last Levo.
But i feel like a lot of my symptoms are back and keep getting a really sore throat and temperature. I thought i would need more Levo but maybe not?
You may have slightly overshot your sweetspot.
FT4 over range isn;t great and its accurate as you did allow 24hrs between Levo & test.
Suggest you reduce by 12.5mcgs and retest in 6-8 weeks.
How are you doing with vitamins?
I havent retested. But taking a lot.
Retest them 3-4 months from when you started them.
If my symptoms are back, swollen neck, sinus, headache, fatigue etc... i feel lile its not enough meds? I was doing well and then i think i did too much excercise and it all came back again (except my breathing is mainly ok)
The body takes time to heal and there is no way of rushing that.
Have you tried a strictly gluten free diet, possibly also dairy free too yet?
If my FT4 goes over range I feel as terrible as I do on too little meds. The symptoms are the same for me, because (I think) if I go over it triggers the D3 enzyme to convert my thyroid hormones to T2 and excrete it. D3 enzyme is the bodies emergency brake if it detects what it thinks is too much hormone in the blood. To stop this happening I have to split dose (I use NDT and a bit of Levo) and keep each individual dose under control. If I increase dose and start to feel as you do, I drop back.
You only started on 50mcg 2 and half months ago
Bloods should have been retested 6-8 weeks after starting on 50mcg
Then should have only increased to 75mcg and be retesting 6-8 weeks later
So have Increased far too quickly
Suggest you Reduce dose by 25mcg daily and retest in 6-8 weeks
Thanks i will see what the Endo thinks.
He will probably get into a flap over your low TSH. That's not what he should worry about, but he will. Don't let him drop your dose too low in one go. Never change a dose by more than 25mcg a day either up or down. It doesn't matter what they say, we are the people who have been damaged by their actions and who have worked out better ways ourselves.
You really need to keep out of the gym until you are stable and feeling well for a period of time. Rushing back to exercise will just keep you sick.
Fancy, that exercise content stuck out for me too! Completely agree.
We see it over and over in here. People are in shock when they first get diagnosed and just want to get better and forget it. So the moment they feel a little better they go on a diet and/or exercise and put themselves right back where they started.
Exercise and calorie restriction are hard on a body and should only be carried out when optimised.
I would start with a small reduction over time, as I wouldn’t want FT4 over range for long. I’ve had similar adverse symptoms with being over and under medicated. It’s best to make changes ‘low and slow’ so you don’t miss your ‘sweet spot’ where you feel most well.
I agree with all the advice to increase gradually but also wanted to add that I too am getting consistently high T4 results from Medichecks - similar to yours and over range - but when my NHS GP tests me I am getting T4 of just below the top of the range (I'm a poor converter and need this for my T3 to be ok). I assume your endo will do their own tests to be sure.
No they dont do there own. But i do believe the NHS ranges are too liberal. I was still in the NHS range when i was really ill.
To be clear, my local NHS lab range and the Medichecks range were the same but my actual T4 result with Medichecks was significantly higher.
Are we saying Medichecks are inacurrate?
