The John Maddox Prize-let's vote for Diogenes!

I get posts from Sense About Science, and this annual prize seems to fit perfectly with what he achieved against the odds for Thyroid patients!

Dear friend,

Anyone can nominate or be nominated for the 2024 John Maddox Prize for standing up for science and advancing public discourse. Nominations will remain open until 20 May.

The Maddox prize, a joint initiative between Nature and Sense about Science, recognises the work of researchers who courageously communicate sound science and evidence despite intimidation and hostility.

I have created a submittable account which is necessary to nominate. It is not allowing me to nominate as "I do not meet the eligibility criteria". I am hopeless with technology! I think your idea to honour Diogenes in this way is perfect. If you find out at a future date that posthumous nominations are allowed, can you please talk us through the process of how to successfully nominate him? I would very much like his family to have him recognised in this way if at all possible. Thanks for posting.

Ive just written to them to ask if the Lifetime’s work award can be made posthumously. Let’s hope so! JX
