T4 how long it lasts in the body 🤔

Hi everyone ❤️

Quick question, I started on T4 vencamil 12 mg on Monday afternoon (8th April) took Tuesday, Wednesday, dose 12mg then found out gp botched the thyroid bloods 😡

I posted the whole saga, so not going to get into that.

So how long will these 3 days of T4 12mg take to leave my system?

Having bloods done at my hospital now, don't trust my surgery at all😡

You should be fine to test 10 days after stopping

Ho yeah 🤦.. I'm also unsure where to actually present the form🤔 do you know if I go to CHOC, or just normal reception in hospital, never done this before 🤦

Quite often very busy early morning

TSH, Ft4 and Ft3

Hope you are getting vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels tested too

I had all those done on Monday, they just destroy the thyroid bloods... The nut jobs😡😡

That's another saga.... I asked for the printout of the bloods that had been done vits/minerals ect, but because this receptionist was hell bent on arguing with me about the thyroid bloods she didn't do me the printout, and I was so razzed off I forgot to re-ask her to do the printout🤦 will have to go back down and ask again... Tell you I'm going to either have a stroke or heart attack at this rate 😡

How did you manage to take just 12mcg of Vencamil seeing as it only comes in 100mcg?

With my pill cutter, cut it into 50mg then 25, then cut again, probably not 12 but near to it, I just wanted to start on the lower dose because of gastric issues 👍

Ah. Thank you. I remember trying to cut it To get 12.5mcg but I could not manage ir at all. I’d be interested to Jen which pill cutter you use as it seems like I may need an upgrade.

I can tell you I've purchase many pill cutters off amazon and e bay unfortunately they were crap😡.I asked at my local pharmacy if they could recommend one, the lady showed me a pill cutter with a very sharp blade and the pill was enclosed in a v shape structure meaning it couldn't move, so the cutting was pretty good, no crums, it's a white case with green writing on the front, I'm in bed atm.. But will post the name of it for you, it was a bit more expensive than the ones on e bay and amazon, but works brilliantly 👍💊

Sorry for the late reply 🤦 just been wanting to sleep all day today 😴..... Its called safe sound healthy, not much more information on the cutter itself, probably more on the box it came in but I threw that away🤦... You could ask a any good pharmacist this one was a family run one, I don't know what boots would be like but I would imagine they'd sell you crap from china🤷 the ones I had from China off e bay and amazon broke very quickly and the blades were blunted after only a couple of uses👍

It looks like the new version🤔, mine looks like a small pager flat closes like a book, but as I say could be the new one, looks the same set up inside tho👌... Mine definitely wasn't that cheap tho, maybe because the family run business needed to add some revenue on😁 seems OK tho with customers feed back 👍

Hope it works for you,👍 I found it best to have it tilted slightly back to keep the tablet to the back of the cutter V, place the tablet inside the V, I use eyebrow pluckers to push the tablet to the back, then before you actually cut, bring the blade down checking that it's in the correct position , then press down gently, hopefully it should cut down the middle, then repeat, I know the half table is a bit harder to cut, but do the same keep the rounded end of the tablet in to the V again gently drop the blade, and repeat it again for 12.5, I will admit that 12.5 is hard but it's as near as possible to get🤦 don't know why on earth some thyroid medication comes in 100mg when we are told a started dose is 50mg🤦🤦
