NHS endos in Kent

My sister, who lives on the north Kent coast, is undiagnosed and waiting for a first endo appointment. She has symptoms of aching and fatigue and has had high cortisol and some symptoms of Sjogrens (tested for this but not diagnosed).

Her TSH is 3.7 and FT4 9 (7-25) Antibodies not tested.

She thinks her pituitary may be at fault and is aware of secondary hypothyroidism.

She doesn’t know which NHS waiting list she is on for an endo appointment. Most likely to be Canterbury, Margate or Ashford. Of course they may not agree to see her at all.

She should have some choice in where she goes but I’m not sure how to find out waiting times. Does anyone recommend or avoid any endos in the area?

Your sisters thyroid is certainly struggling, as TSH should always be under 2. As a first step, look to test FT3, antibodies & key thyroid vitamins (& share in a separate post),

You can name a doctor when asking for feedback on the forum, but replies (to your request for a Endo in Kent) need to be via private message.

A list of thyroid -friendly endos (NHS and private) can be requested by contacting TUK:

With any recommendation that you get, it is advisable to complete further research yourself before making a decision.

It is a good idea to have thyroid blood tests (TSH, FT4 and FT3) alongside key vitamins (ferritin, folate, B12 and vit D) prior to your appointment. This allows you to discuss the results with the endo at the first meeting.
