does anybody have a secret for splitting cytomel? The pills just seem to disintegrate when I try to use my pill splitter. I saw reference to someone quartering their cytomel and I have no clue how you would manage that!

Splitting Cytomel Pills
I have 5 mcg pills. I take 2.5 in the morning and 2.5 at lunch , then 5 mcg at bedtime.
My best strategy is to try to split them all… when it goes awry, that one goes in the bedtime dose compartment.
I do use a normal pill cutter, the kind that clamps down, not a sharp craft knife/scalpel others (greygoose? Or slowdragon?) recommends. I definitely try to get the best balance of a firm yet careful chop!
Not sure that helps, but I can relate!
Cytomel sure is crumbly!
Thanks that does help! I have wee 5 mcg pills that I am to split in half. I just ordered a new pill splitter as the one I have just seems to crush them. It would sure help if the manufacturer scored them at least!
I put mine in the cutter, lower the blade so it sits on the pill and give the arm a quick sharp blow with the side of my hand....cuts clean.
I've tried various more expensive cutters over the years but this very basic, cheap one is the best
I find it is worth experimenting. Some pills can be split best with a pill cutter, and it is worth trying different speeds of cutting, and some pills can be cut carefully with a scalpel - something like this :
I have 25 size pills and use 4 x 6.25 daily. I use a craft knife to cut, first in half and then quarters. Use on a hard pad. Mine are French and are scored.
