Can you take T3 with iron?

Nope. Aim for 4 hours on either side.

Iron supplements, especially non-heme iron, can interfere with any T hormone replacement - incl Lio - because they can bind to thyroid hormones, reducing their absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.

Okay. What about 3 arrows?

Unfortunately! Sorry should have clarified : ) yes including heme, but especially non heme.

Both are absorbed in your small intestines, iron in any form will bind to thyroid hormones if taken together.

Ah damn! How the hell are you meant to take iron then multiple times per day when you take t3 x3 per day?! Its so complicated!!

Heme you can do once a day. But yes, it’s a landmine.

Here’s a few things to avoid with your iron!

Calcium, coffee/tea, eggs, cocoa and a few others: livestrong.com/article/2843...

We all find our way.

5-7 pm is my sweet spot to go crazy - 4 hours after my last Lio and 4 hours before bedtime.

I take 5 per day so you cant do that all in one go. Its over the limit for heme iron.

I dont need to avoid those things with three arrows luckily as its heme iron- you can eat anything with it.

Well - 5 yes, definitely spread that out.

Also, unfortunately calcium and coffee and eggs and things in that article will block heme too……….

The difference is that you can eat in the first place (as opposed to some salts that require empty stomach) and you do not need to worry about boosting absorption with vit C as you do with iron salts or non-heme plan sources.

But those foods will block your three arrows.

Now… personally, as a rule I do four, with my Ts at 7 am, noon and 11pm it’s doable. I’ve read some things and it’s possible that 2 1/2 - 3 hours is enough.

So what I will also say is that … absorption will suffer with that food that if you eat it with iron. It will block absorption… how much? Well only you will know. So if you want to eat… you can just calibrate yourself.

But

The T replacement - you might want to reduce your iron to be honest because at 5 times a day I’m not sure you can do 4 hours on either side!!!!

And that iron will reduce the absorption of those Ts.

Hi PinkSkittles, after taking prescribed ferrous fumarate (iron supplementation) daily for about 2 years I discovered that iron is better absorbed if only taken every other day. Could you change your iron dosing to every other day? Sorry, I have no good answers to supplementing when taking T3 x 3 per day, I have the same problem, I take iron and vitamin D 4 hours after my last dose of T3 if I can stay awake long enough! Good luck

I also can’t remember your starting iron number, and I know three arrows have that by-weight calculation that will recco 5.

And I know some people on here have a really really hard time getting their actual iron number up.

I’m very curious to see how you do on the 5 three arrows for however long you do.
