peeling fingertips
Hiya. I am on NDT and have terrible issues with my fingertips, cracking, deep splits, back friends around the nails and dryness. The water in my area doesn't help due to the acidity, but it is mostly to do with hypothyroidism, which is an unfortunate side effect symptom. Are you on an optimum dose, and do you take vitamins for any possible deficiencies? When my fingertips become painful due to deep cracks, I use Flexitol foot healing cream which a Podiatrist recommended to my husband for cracked heels. It does work, but I have come to the conclusion, I should use it daily. You can buy tubes of it in Boots or larger quantities on Amazon.
thank you so much for your reply
I thought it was due to my hypothyroidism. I’m on 150mcg daily and take a vitamin and mineral supplement. The cream you use sounds hopeful and will definitely try it. Again, thanks
Have you taken an antibiotic called erythromycin at all recently? I took it years ago and it caused the skin on my fingers to peel.
yes I had deep cracks and splitting on my finger tips which started with peeling skin. It happened whilst I was being treated for Graves’. I was on carbimazole and Levothyroxine and the splitting only stopped when I was adequately treated with Levothyroxine. I also used Flexitol and a cream that brick layers used because the mortar dried out their finger tips. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of it but if I do I’ll post on here.
I’ve remembered 🙂. It’s O’Keeffe’s Working Hands intensive balm. If you just google brick layer’s cream it comes up on Amazon £5.50.
brilliant. Thanks
