Have you ever tried dosing based on this calculator:

grassrootshealth.net/projec...

Might help with your short term loading, and your eventual maintenance.

Remember D is NOT a water soluble vitamin, you will not pee out the excess.

Are you also taking K with it?

FYI _ I’m 7500 ius of D a day.

I have never been instructed to take vit k with it. I've been on that much vit d for the last 15 years. Now struggling to get it monitored. Insurance has been cutting coverage on things as everyone knows and now they only want to check yearly levels on such a high dose is concerning me.

I think that the calculator (once you calibrate to your own absorptions rates) should give you comfort as a broad reference point that you are not overdoing it.

You should play around with the calculator - enter in some sample starting levels and target level 100, and you can see how many thousands are recommended. I think you won’t feel like 10k a week is that much anymore.

I’m not 100% certain but I think Vit D is recommended for once a year testing anyway.

Also, you should take a K. It will not impact the way the blood test results come out. But it helps direct the D to your bones and teeth where you need it. Otherwise it calcifies in your blood/veins.

General guidance is at least 100 mcgs mk-7 daily. I’ve also read its 100 mcgs per 1000 ius of D. I take 7500 and 400 mk-7.

Also, i just did the math and we are on the same dose!

~If it's any help to you Dryski I take 5000 IU morning & night alongside Vit K2 - this ensures that the calcium is heading to the bones and not arteries. My Functional Rheumie endorsed as being fine - I have several challenging a/i issues and prone to respiratory issues.

I am a huge believer in the wonders of Vit C -especially lypo-spheric for better absorption.

Been on steroids 10+ years~

My current understanding is that K2 is needed so as to be absorbed where it is needed.

Dryski This article popped up in a newsfeed today:

nypost.com/2024/03/01/lifes...

Slightly misleading headline as he was sick with other things but still interesting data point: the guys D was at 380.

They didn’t say how much he was taking but it does says this:

Taking 60,000 or more IU’s per day over several months can cause an overdosage, according to the Mayo Clinic.

60,000 a day???!!!???!!! Who does that!!!
