The consultant told me he was going to tell my GP to prescribe T3. He was a medical consultant. It will probably take months for a letter to get to my GP though. I will check up next week and each week afterwards until I get my T3
GPs cannot prescribe T3. The best that will happen is that the GP will refer you to an endo who might agree to see you and then might agree to prescribe T3 (but some never prescribe it).
Can you get the consultant to provide you with a copy of the letter? Then you could research endos - start by getting the list of potential T3 prescribers from Thyroid uk and use the letter to push for a referral to the endo of your choice.
I will chase it if the GP says no. I've been too ill for too long to put up with anymore fob off's. The consultant said my results were unusual but he said I defiantly need T3 along with my Levothyroxine. He said I may need to have my epilepsy medication reduced as this may be why my T3 was so low. I said he would have to discus that one with my neurologist. I have asked to see a endo before but my GP said that I would have to have a rheumatoid factor to see one.
