After following advice and wisdom from this fab group over the last couple of years I have now managed to feel much better with increased thyroxine and various supplements. One unexpected bonus has been my singing voice. I am in my 70s and have sung soprano in a large choral society for years but a year ago was on the verge of giving up thinking my voice was deteriorating with age. However, since improving my thyroid function, my voice has returned and I can once more reach those ‘high’ notes with ease. I’m just wondering if there are any other singers out there with a similar experience ? Is there any research about thyroid and singing or is my experience just a coincidence?

Voice improvement
Hi Pollypet
Yes I absolutely think it’s a thing, croaky voice and tickley cough. Also a lot of people suffer with choking episodes. Some people have difficulty in swallowing (dysphagia). I experienced all the above and getting thyroid hormone levels to a range alleviated symptoms somewhat. I have my singing voice back too in a fashion (I go off key 🤣).
My talking voice often falters when my FT3 levels are running low. You have probably got you thyroid levels sorted out, which is great news for you. My singing voice has always been terrible, I come from a large family of Musicians but none of us can sing.
This is so interesting. I am on her for my daughter. She has this problem with flem stuck in her throat. is this then a natural thing of hypothyroidism!! She is also a singing does having this disease affect the vocals cords then!! She is having a hard time dealing with his diagnosed 18 has the Graves also. Any advise to help her would be grateful she is always depressed put on a lot of weight.
When I was under medicated I had hoarseness and was continually coughing to clear my throat. From what I’ve read hoarseness is very common when T3 is low.
Singwell may be able to add more?
