I am very fatigued and have very gritty eyes and I am freezing cold very out of breath and have a fast heart standing up. Before I approach my GP what tests do I need to check my thyroid? Will they only check TSH?
Will a blue horizon gold test tell me everything I need to know?
My last test was in 2022 and I think I may have posted on here and was told it all looked fine.
Thanks Matty

I had these symptoms and it turned out to be low iron and ferritin (iron stores). Your doctor might only test ferritin, or possibly only a Full Blood Count.
It is possible to get an iron panel and other nutrients tested by paying for it privately. I don't know if you've done that before. It doesn't involve paying for a doctor.
Would you be able to tell me what are optimal ranges for the vit and minerals?
I am not diagnosed yet I am embarking on the journey! Just gathering what info I need I appreciate your reply.
I will be getting a blue horizon test and could you recommend an iron panel? My ferritin was at 53 last year and I have been trying to get it above 100. I also supplement D and B12
Here’s what I’ve picked up over time, take it in context of other info you read here. Important though - “optimal” is definitely personal, but also totally different for those who are not hypo vs those of us who are - since our under active thyroid interferes with absorption.
Also - I like to repeat this any time iron is mentioned - do not supplement iron without a full iron panel and frequent testing. The impact of iron toxicity is no joke, and permanent.
I am in the US, so can’t weigh in on the best place to get the tests done!
Vitamin D at least over 80nmol, some have said maybe target 100 or 150. My non hypo people target 50.
Serum B12 over 500 (different from Active B12 which I’ve read is to target over 70)
Folate near top of range
Ferritin 90-100. I’ve read that men should be higher but I have no idea.
