hi, I was given propranolol for my heart rate on Tuesday. My resting heart rate was 90-95, so far it has only gone down to 80-85. Will it go down more at all? I’m waiting to see endocrinologist on 11 January for first time so I wasn’t given carbimazol so far. Also waiting for TRab test results.

propranolol
I have no knowledge to offer but hopefully my bumping it to the top of feed will draw attention from someone knowledgeable 🤗
I found proprananol reduced my fast heart rate (when I experienced hyper-like symptoms) over the course of a few weeks, although it did sap my energy & make me feel sleepy. I would advise that you keep taking it (in small doses) until your resting heart rate reduces further.
Fast heart rate also can be low iron/ferritin

Thank you! Do you think I’m able to reverse thyroid issues by increasing the iron?
Possibly…….but high TPO antibodies shows your thyroid is under attack
TPO antibodies are the “hoovers” cleaning up after autoimmune attacks
Recent high Ft3 and low TSH may be result of damaged thyroid cells releasing excess thyroid hormones as cells break down after autoimmune attack
this typically occurs in early stage Hashimoto’s
I’m on 60mg at the moment. Thanks I wasn’t aware of that
I have just checked and it’s 110/73, plus 82
Thank you
Hi Kari55
Happy New Year!
I was put on propranolol and carbimazole at the beginning of December 2023 for hyperthyroidism. My resting heart rate was 100 - 110. My exercise heart rate was 170 - 189. Since 8th December when I started taking the meds, my resting heart rate is now 68-78 and my exercise heart rate is down now 120- 130.
Yours is likely to come down further too.
I haven't experienced the energy zap that some people experience. Give it a little more time and also check out some of the other probable causes.
All the best
