Not a great topic but needs must! I'm under investigation for gastro issues, am waiting for a referral to a consultant hopefully soon. I may have an inflammatory bowel disease or (I really hope not) bowel cancer - or something else, although infection ruled out. I have very high calprotectin levels showing a lot of white blood cells in my gut, which means a lot of inflammation going on. I already have Hashi's so another autoimmune condition makes sense.
Gastro symptoms include blood and diarrhoea. I spoke to my GP yesterday about the results of tests so far and what to expect. However I totally forgot to ask about thyroid hormones, doh! Right now am having a lot of diarrhoea and GP didn't want to prescribe anything for it so as not to interfere with a diagnosis ??? but that means I won't be absorbing nutrients or thyroid hormone and supplements as well as I normally would. This is concerning (and I will bring it up with the consultant) as I don't want to be having weeks of diarrhoea before I even have a test!
I take T3 only, various vitamin and mineral supplements. I'm 67 and not in the peak of health, I am already thin and have various food intolerances. Currently existing on 'bland' foods and a lot less of it than usual.

Thanks Slow Dragon. I haven't tested thyroid hormones in awhile as my results are always the same - suppressed TSH, no FT4 and high in range FT3. That would of course start changing if I don't absorb T3.
