Wildly fluctuating hormone levels, same dose (no Hashi) what’s going on?

Hello there lovely people

I need some advice on my latest results as they are very high and differ wildly from my last results, done in May. Done with Monitor my Health

I take 4.5 grains of NDT a day, split in 2 doses. Blood results taken in the morning, with leaving 19h between the last dose. I have secondary hypothyroidism NOT Hashi’s. So there’s no obvious reason why the results should fluctuate so much

Looks like I am totally over medicated (I don’t feel it)

30/5/23 same dose, same testing time & conditions my results were:

TSH <0.01 (range 0.27-4.2)

T4 5.9 pmol/L

FT3 levels normal (normal range 3.1 - 6.8 pmol/L) and

21.8 pmol/L

FT4 levels normal (normal range 12-22 pmol/L)

What is going on? Are these just dodgy results? Should I retest before making any changes?

Thank you!

Were you on HRT at previous test

Results do suggest over medicated

When were vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels last tested

yes, I stopped HRT recently. It was transdermal, so I was told it doesn’t interfere with thyroid?

Vits haven’t been tested for a while. GP won’t do it. Which private company is good/ cheap for vit tests please?

Thank you

I'm on NDT. Looks like you were near the top of the range in May and now you have definately gone over. It could be your vits minerals are not optomum and you are not absorbing it as well. Worth checking them.

I move my NDT up down by a quarter due to seasonal changes in weather. Have to say I don't usually reduce it in winter though. However it maybe your levels has very very slowly increased over a number of months so you've been a tadge over dosed that' might have been due to the warm weather we had in particular in June. .

I have to say when I've gone over, not often, I stop my NDT for a few days then go in at a slightly lower dose. I'll leave that with you. Whether you decide it was a seasonal reason why it accumulated and resume you usual dose after stopping or whether ur turns out to be lower vitamin levels

Thank you.

It is so weird, as I never had any ‘seasonal changes’ in hormone level 😔 . I have been taking NDT for 3 years now. And those levels are really high…

I’ll try and lower it and remeasure. I need my vits tested as well.

Which NDT are you on? Have you checked if there's been any batch issues? That's another possibility. It happened to me on Erfa a few tears back when they had trouble with their new factory in Spain.

You raise a very good point. I had some issue with incorrect storage previously, which affected efficacy. So maybe this one is full strength and hence too highly dosed.

I’m on Efra btw

Just check first whether there are any batch issues. It'll be either on Erfas website or you can look on stopthethyroidmadness website.

Lab results aren’t always 100% accurate. Consider another test before making a decision.

I don’t take NDT and Wavy lines does, so she knows all about it but I’ve always read once on NDT its symptoms not blood tests?

Good point.

However, my Endo still wants blood results and he’s got going to prescribe any more with those results 😂
