So much riding on this......... so now getting myself in a wee bit of a tizz! Think I'm prepared - have Symptoms list, Thyroid test results, Genetic test results, vit & suppliments list, medical history & family medical history all printed out ready. Bit I'm fretting over is 🙈 ....... if I do get offered T3 trial its Sooo.... important I try to get that right for it to be successful, So just after some reassurance from 'The Knowledgable Ones' please? that Iv understood what Iv been told before? Currently on 150mg Levo - that be reduced to 125mg with 5mcg T3 added (either 1st thing am or split am & pm) Then tested after 6 weeks then if needed adjust Levo to 100mg & T3 to 10mg?

Endo appointment Tomorrow 😨
You only adjust 1 thing at a time. So once you have the blood results from your first 6 to 8 weeks on combo, you look at ft4 and ft3 and decide which 1 to increase and the increase either t3 or levo. Wait 6 to 8 weeks and again look at results and adjust 1 thing If you alter both at once you won't know what is causing what. It is all trial and error. It needs to be slow and methodical to get it right otherwise you are resorting to guesswork and it becomes pure chance if you hit the right dose
Blood tests are only one thing to look at. More important is how you feel.
Yes, I did know that & have a list of my symptoms to take with me. Guess with everything else going on tho that could easily lose its Clout ......and as you say it's More important, so Thank you for bringing it to mind.....I'll keep that Foremost! 😉
Right, that makes sence, thank you. So how will I know if need more T3 or T4? thinking that it will be if T3 getting better in range, sorry some of this is beyond me?..... how do you know which one needs the adjusting done? : (
It is trial and error. If you are unsure post the results on here and ask.
OK, will do .....getting ahead of myself here, not even got it yet! .........sorry to be a Numpty but did you mean if I am luck enough to get T3 I take that but don't reduce T4 straight away? ? : )
It depends where your ft4 result is. If your ft4 is at the top or over of its range then you reduce by 25mcg. Then wait a week before adding 5mcg t3.Or as happened with me to keep your t3 prescription you need to keep the endo onside then you need to sort of follow their protocol. My endo told me to reduce levo by 50mcg and add in 20mcg t3. They were surprised that I did this over 3 months and not overnight as they expected. I had to go along with this to get the t3. I spent the next 2 years adjusting doses and dragging the endo into my way of thinking. I ended up adding back in the 50mcg levo in stages and reducing the t3 to 7.5 mcg daily.
