New results

TSH 4.87 (3.1-6.8)

T4 10.8

T3 3.8

No range given for T4 or T3 just a star beside them both to denote abnormal result.

Please add reference range for each test - numbers in brackets after your result. This is important as they vary from lab to lab.

I dont think 3.1 - 6.8 is the right range beside TSH, that is usually FT3 range. I suspect your TSH is above the reference range.

With 2 TSH results above reference range you could get diagnosis & treatment on the NHS.

Are you testing as per our protocol to show highest TSH at 9am or earlier?

Previous post saying you were on 5mcg Carbimazole

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Are you still taking Carbimazole…if yes suggest you speak to GP ASAP…..and stop taking it

Are you working on improving low vitamin levels

20 days ago you posted a previous blood test giving the ranges as :-

T3 @ 3.10 - 6.80 - and T4 @ 11.90 - 21.60 - were these new blood test taken at the same place ?

Who put you on the Carbi? That is the wrong treatment for Hashi's and will make you very hypo very quickly. You are now hypo. Your TSH is too high and if your FT4/3 were flagged as abnormal, it's because they are now under-range. It will take the TSH a little time to completely catch it, it doesn't move as fast as the T4/3.

NHS endocrine - have been seeing them for 5 years and no diagnosis - saw private endo couple of days ago who diagnosed me with Hashi's and told me to take aspirin and omeprazole for 6 weeks - needless to say i am not going to do that - dont know what I should actually do now tho!

I hope this wasn’t an endocrinologist of this list

Carbimazole was incorrect treatment for Hashimoto’s

Ft4 only very mildly over range…..typical of early stage Hashimoto’s

Now you are hypothyroid and need starting on levothyroxine

Update - heard back from endo today and no treatment to be given - review in 6 weeks - so no levo....

Continue Work on improving low vitamin levels

Get coeliac blood test if not been done yet (£20 privately) and then start strictly gluten free diet

Retest bloods in 6 weeks

Make sure to test early morning, ideally before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

Well, he has no idea what he's doing! lol If only it were that easy. Did he not mention your low thyroid hormone levels? Or has he not seen those results?

No the results you have quoted were private results - the new ones are NHS.

But we still need the ranges and they can differ from NHS Lab to NHS lab :

- so guessing T3 to be 3.10-6.80 and T4 to be 12.00 - 22.00 -

like the set of blood tests listed in the same post 20 days ago ?

Either way both T3 and T4 look much too low - the AT drug should be stopped and hopefully your own thyroid hormone production will return and given time your T3 and T4 levels will naturally restore and rebalance themselves as you are not dealing with Graves but Hashimoto's AI thyroid disease.

If you are in England you can get the NHS app then ask for permission to see your results on that at GP reception. You could also ask them to print out your results.

Both your TSH & FT4 results are starred which means that they are outside the reference range.

If you had tested earlier in the morning your TSH result would have been higher.

You may need to book well ahead to get an earlier test appointment.

All I have is what I was sent when I requested them and uploaded in the image :-(

Did you ask for a print-out? That way you get all the numbers.

jenny876 profile image
jenny876 in reply to greygoose

No, just for it to be emailed to me. Will ask for print out of results, thanks

No guarantee that you will get the correct numbers when asking for them to be emailed - or even that you'll get your results and not somebody else's! Has been known. Ask the receptionist for the print-out, not the doctor. :)

It should not be impossible to get a blood draw at the time you want. Say you need to test before going to work in the morning. They have appointments from 8am onwards normally.

jenny876 profile image
jenny876 in reply to FancyPants54

It should not be but it is. I rarely get through to GP despite spending hours on the phone and when I do and they give me an appointment they dont give me a choice of the time. Endocrine only have afternoon appointments too so nothing I can do.
