Hi everyone,Just wanted to say for a millionth time how much i appreciate the help i get on this forum .
I have been having heart palpitations on and off ever since i started taking levothyroxine. I have been taking 100 mg ov levo every day. Last week i had a blood test and my tsh was 0.20 dr. Told me to start taking 50 at the weekends and 100 during the week. Well we haven't got to the weekend yet so i kept takin 100 and today i have severe palpitations, fits of shivering throughout the day. Only took 50 this morning. It is really uncomfortable and scary. Are these symptoms due to my high tsh and how long will it take to ressolve on my new dose?
The dr has also decided to start weaning me off my nevibolol at the same time and says my high pulse was thyroid related and i never should have been put on it in the first place.
I have shivering fits and palpitations and my hands and nails go white and pale. Also my heart palpitations seem to occur just before my period for a week or sometimes two. Is this related to anything? Has anyone experienced anything simillar? I do have low ferritin and high iron saturation levels also so try to eat liver etc to raise ferritin.

My last ferritin result alst month was around 29. Iron saturation was 48 . I had an ecg at the private doctors clinic here and it showed nothing although it was a very shot one and i wasnt feeling palpitations at the time of the ecg. I also had an effort test and that was also ok.
I'd ask for an iron panel to be done. If your doctor won't agree there is a private finger-prick test available, obviously at a cost - scroll all the way down the page for full information :
When testing companies have sales they often have higher discounts. To get notified of these you would have to create an account with the testing company, and you would get notified of any higher than usual discounts by email.
Having said that, Medichecks rarely gives substantial discounts on the iron blood test :
Serum ferritin level is the biochemical test, which most reliably correlates with relative total body iron stores. In all people, a serum ferritin level of less than 30 micrograms/L confirms the diagnosis of iron deficiency.
Your other tests show it’s only ferritin that’s low, not iron
This is interesting because I have noticed that many patients with Hashimoto’s disease and hypothyroidism, start to feel worse when their ferritin drops below 80 and usually there is hair loss when it drops below 50.
Thyroid disease is as much about optimising vitamins as thyroid hormones
We have received further information the lab about ferritin reference ranges. They confirm that they are sex dependent up to the age of 60, then beyond the age of 60 the reference range is the same for both sexes:
Males 16-60: 30-400 ug/L
Female's: 16-60: 30-150
Both >60: 30-650
The lower limit of 30 ug/L is in accordance with the updated NICE guidance and the upper limits are in accordance with guidance from the Association of Clinical Biochemists. ‘
I am not taking any iron suplaments. Tests were done according to correct guidelines and time frame. So there may be an issue with my liver... how do i test that? What tests do i need to do? The thing is if i keep eating liver etc it will increase my transferrin saturation. My dr. Just said to test ferritin again in february. Am i going to have to put up with these palpitations for another 4 months...
Anything is possible with medications … My sister was on high blood pressure pills that caused her to develop Kidney disease once medication was stop her Kidney started to function properly but sadly for her I think the overall damage was done.
