I've been miserable last few years, Now EXTREME FATIGUE.

my thyroid blood tests have always been "in range"

Just git results back and tsh = 7.12

Free t4=1.02

I have nodules on my thyroid too but have been "monitired"

Hopefully now I'll be put on medicine and start feeling better.

I've been telling the dr my thyroid was messed up.

3 years of suffering

Cholesterol, TRIglycerides, etc all out of wack.

Weight gain, etc etc...

Now blood tests are revealing what I've known for years.

Cholesterol, TRIglycerides, etc all out of wack.

Whatever you do, don't agree to go on statins.

Pay particular attention to the graphs in this link :

drmalcolmkendrick.org/2012/...

I like this link - particularly fact number 17:

spacedoc.com/articles/50-fa...

And for more info there are lots of links from this diabetes forum :

diabetes.co.uk/forum/thread...

diabetes.co.uk/forum/thread...

...

Regarding your triglycerides, these can be reduced by reducing sugar intake and processed carb intake. You can increase your fats and proteins, but it matters which fats you choose to eat. The ones that are healthiest are the ones that people would have recognised 200 years ago i.e. that don't need a laboratory to create them.

...

On the NHS website it says about statins :

If you have an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), treatment may be delayed until this problem is treated. This is because having an underactive thyroid can lead to an increased cholesterol level, and treating hypothyroidism may cause your cholesterol level to decrease, without the need for statins. Statins are also more likely to cause muscle damage in people with an underactive thyroid.

...

Personally, I wouldn't take statins if you paid me.

Standard STARTER dose levothyroxine is 50mcg

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease

20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis

In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Yes I hope she orders the other blod tests. My vitd is okay.

I have been suffering for 2 years but because my bloodwork was always "in range" they ignored what I said.

EXTREME FATIGUE

Thought I was dying.

I do hacmve a goiterAND nodules.

Have had an ultrasound done .

Maybe they will wake up an kniw I am not crazy.

I am in the US

DRS suck here now, I'm 61, been always skinny ,last 5 years gained 35 pounds, goiter, nodules, high bp, high TRIglycerides.

I'm not on a stating, and on fenofibrate.

But hopefully thyroid meds will take care if that.

I just want to FEEL NORMAL again.

Glad to hear you finally got a diagnosis. You must feel dreadful with those results and symptoms.

Read up on everything you can do to feel better, it’s a long process especially if you have been hypo for a while.

Keep on at the GP so you get to the right dose for you over the right timeframe.

I’ve found this forum so helpful answering all sorts of queries related. 🌱

Yep I've been on this forum for a few years.I believe i have hashmitoes.

I am going to an endroconologist also, not just a GP.

they all suck, don't listen.

I knew my thyroid was messed up, family history.

My dad had graves, my mom and sister hypo.

My granddaughter just had a thyroid operation at age 14.

Removed a quarter of her thyroid.

Cripes that should have been obvious to the medics then!

So glad it’s moving forward for you 🙏
