Does anyone have any experience with this type of liothyronine (I've never even heard of it)? Like some on here, I'm pretty sensitive to differences in brands. I get on well with Cynomel and Mylan brands (but I don't know a pharmacy that currently stocks Mylan). And due to insurance, this is my option... Is it effective? Is it comparable to any other brands?
Thanks for any input

Good grief, no wonder our medics are terrified of prescribing T3! 😡

WARNING: NOT FOR TREATMENT OF OBESITY OR FOR WEIGHT LOSS
Thyroid hormones, including liothyronine sodium, either alone or with other therapeutic agents, should not be used for the treatment of obesity or for weight loss.
In euthyroid patients, doses within the range of daily hormonal requirements are ineffective for weight reduction.
Larger doses may produce serious or even life-threatening manifestations of toxicity, particularly when given in association with sympathomimetic amines such as those used for their anorectic effects [see Adverse Reactions (6), Drug Interactions (7.7), and Overdosage (10)] .
It is, I know. I've been seeing these warnings, especially on US meds, for a very long time. But it still makes me so angry that thyroid patients get the backlash from this rubbish.
Isn’t this the reason why DHEA has been banned because so called athletes were taking it to improve muscle performance. Regrettably, those who really need it can no longer get it without prescription.
I don't remember the DHEA details, but yes, body builders, athletes and those with weight issues have caused a lot of problems for people who genuinely need hormone medications.
I don't have any experience of taking Zydus (nor any other liothyronine!).
My Rest of the World medicines document lists all the liothyronine products I could find in many countries. (I need to spend some time updating it.)
Is Greenstone an option? It seems to actually be the same product as Pfizer Cytomel.
helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.
This link takes you to a page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and Google Drive, and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones.
The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrix for tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK.
I don't have access to Greenstone unfortunately. I am in the U.S. These forums are always so helpful - I thought someone may have came across this brand! (but it also appears that this brand is only a couple years old too).
